works fine on R4 IIIs
with their latest FW
you could try getting the rom again as it might be corrupt

i'll pm you the site I got layton from, try that i'm playing fine on r4 1 with YS MENU no cheats or hacks required.

Can confirm it works on an R4 with firmware 1.18.

make sure your cards updated to the latest version mate,
had a couple of people get it from torrents etc. and has been corrupt, you got access to newsgroups?
might be a better choice, got mine from their and working perfect
