Any mountain bikers here on DF?
Anyway, received my new 2010 Specialized FSR XC comp bike today and cant wait to get it dirty.
Bit pricey at £1100 quid but did a short ride and its far better than my hard tail.

Looks quite tasty....
Spec bikes have a very good rep so i am sure you will be fine...!
Yeh just need to setup the suspension, fill the tyres with slime and away I go.

Fill the tyres with slime?
Cool, so you fill it with air to the desired pressure and then put this stuff in and if you go over a nail it doesn't matter cos its full of gunk. I guess it gets you home but what happens then? Do you have to get a new inner tube or just leave it with this in it?
No, you deflate the tyre totally and fill the required amount into each tyre. You then roll the tyre around, spread the liquid inside the tube and then refill to the correct pressure.
When you go over a nail as an example the liquid fills the hole and you just carry on.

SLiME Tube Sealant is formulated and tested for use in all tube tires. Once installed, SLiME remains liquid and will not harden or dry out. Slime is guaranteed for 2 years.
As the SLiME treated tube rotates, centrifugal force pushes the sealant to the tread area creating a layer of protection, repairing punctures as they occur or treating existing punctures. SLiME is not intended for use in tubes losing pressure from sidewall punctures, bead leaks, damaged rims or faulty valves. SLiME for tube type tires is NOT recommended for use in tubeless tires.
What is Fibro-Seal Technology? SLiME utilizes a state-of-the-art blend of environmentally friendly fibers, binders, polymers and proprietary congealing agents which intertwine and clot within the puncture. This Fibro-Seal lattice, together with the viscous transportation system (the "green" goo) seeks out and tightly packs itself into the puncture, preventing and repairing flats with a flexible long lasting plug.
- Prevents and repairs punctures up to1/8" (3mm) using Fibro-Seal™ technology.
- Remains liquid inside the tire, coating the tread area as the tire rotates.
- Non-toxic, non-hazardous, non-flammable, non-aerosol and water soluble.
- Tubes treated with SLiME can be patched with a conventional vulcanized patch using a bit of patience and care!
Note: SLiME is not guaranteed to repair punctures caused by gashes from glass or metal or on punctures greater than 1/8" (3mm).

Lovely bike mate I take it its a Carbon frame? As for using slime I would not go there I,ve heard loads of horror storys about the stuff.
be wary of slime mate, burst a tyre before and it makes a fuck of a mess. Got tubeless tyres on my new bike that I got last year (Orange five) and have had no grief with them whatsoever.
Hi all,
Its not carbon wish it was but it is a really great bit of kit indeed.
Regarding Slime I think its fine myself and acts as a preventative measure thats all and if the tyre splits then its a new tyre, could happen even without slime.
It stops small punctures thats all and will do me.

Well I added the slime to my tubes today so hopefully Im covered for the next 2 years of none punctures.
If after then all I need to do is but new tubes or tubless tyres
