Alright guys,

I'm after some opinions. Basically in an ideal world I would like to have a Iphone 3GS but im in contract with oran*e until june next year (When I will be getting one). I lost my old ipod nano the other day and am desperate for a new ipod . Iv been looking at the different versions of the ipod touch (thought about getting one then selling it when out of contract and putting that to cost of new iphone). Which one do you think offers the best value for money vs performance?

Hate the fact im spending like £200 on an ipod touch and then buying an i phone in 6 months which is actually a ipod too!

I bought a 2nd gen 16gb ipod touch off ebay for £130 (second hand but in perfect condition with a case). I also bought a basic nokia 6303 to use as a phone. I wanted to be able to not take the expensive ipod out with me on the piss or out at the weekend. It does exactly the same thing as the iphone except the obvious phone funcions. I have wifi at home and at work so i can use it no problem. Best thing i have ever bought to be honest. I sometimes wish i had the iphone so i would only have to carry 1 device but then at the weekend ive just got a basic phone on me. Plus i hate touch screen phones after having a htc which had lots of functionality but was completely useless as a phone.

For what O2 are charging for the 3GS tied into extortionate contracts you are better off just buying the phone from O2 for £440 with no contractual obligations Jailbreak and stay on your existing contract ! In the long run this will save you many dollars.

I was also considering this option but tbh im bewildered by how jail breaking works - So I could for instance buy one jail break it then use it with my existing sim and contract? How would this work for using the web (would it depend on what my provider charges me now)

im sure one of us will help you with the jailbreak mate. no problems also explain it to you. Im not sure you can unlock the newest firmware for the iphone 3g(s) so of the other guys will know though.

I have not looked into it since the new update.

Just got an ipod touch 32gb through Amex reward points and I'm more than impressed.

Even though I got mine for fuck all, now I've had it for a few days I think it's worth more than the £229.00 price tag.
