strange noise and crashing when creating a save file

hi all

just had a call off my m8 saying that when he tries to create a new savegame on a new game that the wii crashes and makes a strange noise??

its softmodded with cios38 v14, waninkoko 4.1 update and negamma v6 loader

anyone else heard of this issue?

I get a wierd noise from my wii sometimes but its only when reading disks. If you fill the memory it will tell you when you boot up and won't let you continue until you've free'd some space up so it can't be that. I've done it many a time installing wii ware.

Sounds like his hard disk has died. Can you make the wii save to an sd card and try that maybe?

Could it be that he's updated the wii or something using an import game?

That noise you mention could be the gears that draw the dvd's in, mine wore out and broke a few teeth off in the end they just grind a bit now doesn't really matter though cos all me games are on external drive now, just fucking annoying.
