Recommendations on new card

I've been happily using my r4 for quite a while now however as I've been made aware they arn't updating the firmware anymore and I'm finding more and more games that won't work with 1.18 I am thinking it's time to upgrade to a new model.

Can anyone suggest which card is currently the best out there and what if any experiance you've had with it.

My kids still use their R4's on v1.18 firmware and anytime a new game doesn't work I just do the arm7.bin fix.

thanks i'll do some investigating, btw am I to take that as the R4 is still the best in market as a friend of mine is getting his son a ds for xmas and I keep telling him to get a cart and then when he asks which one the answer "the best one" doesn't go down too well

The best card is still I bleieve the Cyclo DS Evolution, but its also the most expensive. I quite like the Acekard 2i though, which is about 8 quid from dealextreme, and is compatible with the new Dsi too.

any suggestions on where to get one of the evolution card - although I think he will get the Acekard

I would say Acekard from deal extreme, not the fastest deliver as it is from HK but very reliable.

I get all my items of that kind from dealxtreme, can take a little as 8 working days to arrive from HK

yeah I love deal extreame myself, pratically every payday I find something on there that I "need" and to this day I've had no problems.

*edit* found the cyclo ds on there for just over £29 so will give him the prices tonight and let him decide

you can use a modified TTDS firmware on the R4 which should improve the compatibility, cant remember the name of it off hand though. For an easier life, just spend the 8 quid on a AceKard.

Having owned and used TTDS and R4 before moving onto CycloDS Evolution - I'd say spend the cash and get CycloDS - it's very well supported, regular updates and very helpful support forum - only downside is it won't work in a DSI - but nothing out there currently is fully compatible with DSI and the persistent rumour on the Team Cyclops forum is that there will be a new card at some point in the future for the DSI - but for the plain DS I'd say it's unbeatable and worth every penny.
