DSi Question re those flash cards

Quick question in relation to the DSi and full functionality using one of those cards.

If my understanding is correct from reading the above stickies you can use some of the cards marked with the "i" at the end but you wont be able to have full functionality of the DSi side of things.

Somewhere on one of the stickies it was mentioning that the people behind cyclods maybe close to break through.

Is anyone aware of any news on this final breakthrough for the DSi or is it going to be some time before this is possible if at all?

There's a few cards that will now work on the new DSi firmware. Acekard 2i and there's a couple of R4i clones, although thes cards need to be flashed in a DS Lite or a none updated DSi. After the flash the cards will work on any updated DSi.

Not really sure what your getting at

but you can get an acekard 2 and update the firmware on it and then update the dsi to 1.4

and still play your roms from the card

thanks for the updates guys, I was refering to the fact that some cards out there for the dsi will allow you to play ds roms but to actually use the dsi part or run in dsi mode I think they call it has not been achieved yet by some cards and I was wondering if that is still the case?

No DSi games work on any cards as of yet. Only DS roms.

Nintendo brought an update out a month or 2 ago to 1.4, which gives facebook and other extra features on the DSi. This update also stopped the flashcards working on the console. So if you wanted to use a flash card, you couldn't update the DSi firmware to 1.4 to gain the extra features. But since then Acekard and other types of cards have managed to bypass the new protection (see my post above for how)

Ant, did you mean Gameboy roms? Not sure, i've never seen or tried any. Regular gameboy games do not work as there isn't a gameboy slot on the DSi.

Thanks Dannyboy for confirming that no DSi games are working yet, have you or anyone else any ideas when this may possible?

how long is a piece of string?

It may never get hacked, there isnt much incentive with only a handful of mediocre games out that use the hardware properly.
