ping app for iphone/touch

Fantastic free bit of kit..basically you can send txt msg's to other iphones/touches for free over the data network and it appears just like a text message but it's actually coming from a user...i.e. if you set your name to be bearback69 you just send it to your mates...it's on itunes for free at the mo but i can't think it will be free for long!!

well it works. very well too..

it uses push so if you dont (disabled it or your network doesnt allow it) then it wont work.

The chat interface within the app is made to look like the defauly messaging app.

To be honest i'm surprised this got approved. I heard o2 had a veeto over some apps, and this one would affect their revenue so it may disappear at some point. Get it while you can !

I have just downloaded this ready for when I get an iPhone.

With me downloading to iTunes, does this mean that if they do pull it that I can still put onto the phone (provided it still works??)

yea when you connect a phone, you get a device on the main bar. click that device and there's an applications tab where you choose whats sent to the iphone
