Used a john bull country cider mix now, tasting good
5 gallon bucket, a tap, sugar and water :-)
    Equipment about £20 all in
£12 for the mix, makes 40 pints

If your new to brewing start off by doing a small batch first, say 1 demijohn (4.5 litres)
If you go in Morrissons they have a 5l bottle od amber Pura water for 71p (1/2 price), get 1 and use the bottle as your demijohn.
    Keep it simple!

Steralise your kit (I use 15ml of thin bleach per 5l of water )- leave all kit to soak for 1/2 hr then rinse well.
Pour in 4 litres of apple juice, 1 mug of really strong black tea (or 1/2 tsp of wine tannin powder) and add sugar or honey if you want it extra strong. (AJ alone will give you about a 5% cider)
Shake the fook out of your brew to get some air in it.
Add 1 tsp of yeast nutrient or 1 V B1 tablet crushed up
Add 1 tsp of wine/cider yeast
put a peice of cling film over the open neck of the bottle and secure it with a rubber band and prick a hole in it with a pin.
leave it somewhere around 20 c for about 10 days, then somewhere cooler for 10 days to clear.
After day 3 top up with more AJ to fill the DJ.
once clear, bottle it up with 1 level tsp of sugar if you want it fizzy.

Lidl are doing their cloudy apple juice on offer this week @ 59p a carton which is a good starter.

For 4 litres, every 100g sugar should be about 1%

Haven't had chance to do any of this for quite a while now with things that have been going on in my life but last week my Mrs's Dad showed me a recipe for a real ghetto style alcoholic ginger beer.
I used a ginger root (purchased from Asda) peeled then grated and put into an old 2ltr plastic coke bottle, a cup of sugar, half a teaspoon of baking yeast, a squeeze of lemon juice & fill with water leaving a bit of a gap to the top of bottle to allow for fizz.
After filling with water i put the lid on and gave it a good shake and left for 3 days (making sure that you check on it every day to release the lid to get rid of some of the pressure or it will EXPLODE). I've now sieved out all the ginger re-bottled, primed with a little sugar for fiz and refrigerated. I tried a little taste before refrigerating and it tasted really nice. Have no idea how alcoholic it is as i haven't measured it.
