As you may already know Spotify is only allowing new users via an invite from a Premium user. However when you enter your invitation code you are not sent to an encrypted page that can only be accessed if you have a cookie placed there because of a correct code, you are sent to a run-of-the mill web page, one that can be accessed by anyone.

This means that anyone who visits https://www.spotify.com/en/get-started/ can cut out the invite system.

Simples.

lol well done spotify! I've got 5 invitations if anyone wants one but not much use with that link doing the rounds.

Not renewing my premium membership, i just can't get round the fact i've paid £30 for premium and i've nothing to show for it.

I didn't need an invite when I signed up a few months ago but around that time the they kept opening it up now and then so you could register without an invite, then close it then open it again.

You don't have to be a premium user to invite. I'm not and I still have invites, but as already said, may as well use the link above now.
