Default Want to register .co.uk and .net domains but the .com already exists

I wish to register an available .net and .co.uk domain name (I'd rather not disclose it at the moment) but I've noticed that it has already been registered as a .com domain.

Now the .com domain/company name website has a simple logo displayed but no content. Just a logo parked on the site and no contact details.
The US company name registry (I checked http://www.dnb.com/us/) has no record of the company and the same goes for Companies House over here. WHOIS tells me it was registered June 2001 so it looks like nothing has happened since then!

For examples sake let's call it 'Bad Cat Entertainment.com' and it specialises in graphic design.

Now, I would also like my new company to be called '
Bad Cat Entertainment' and register the available .net and .co.uk domains. My company will specialise in a different area altogether - not graphic design.

Could you see this causing me any legal issues now or in the future? At the moment I'm presuming not as the existing .com domain doesn't seem to be an official registered businesses either here or across the pond.

    Your thoughts?

Are there no contact details on the WHOIS registration?

I went through something similar 6 weeks ago. I run a small hosting company & registered as many variations as possible of "cargopalletsltd" for a customer in March this year.

6 weeks ago I got a email from a chinese company asking if I objected to them registering the "cargopalletsltd" name under a chinese domain. Now as my customer has no wish to trade in China I said no, go ahead & register it.

I'm not 100% certain on the legalities, but if you've made every reasonable effort to contact the domain owner & got no response, I'd go ahead & register your .co.uk & .net domains

You'll be fine registering it as long as you are not trying the gain trade off their brand.
