Default some website setup help please

My sister has just started to build a business and she wants to set up a web site aswell,

I only have a VERY basic idea of this so i thought i would ask the experts (thats you by the way ) Are there any sites that can offer a package to set up a site (a bit like how myspace works but not as a blog etc)

and also does anyone know of charges because obviously setting up a business can be expensive and ideally want it to be as cost effective as possible

or the other idea is to buy a .com / .co.uk etc and pay someone to set up a simple site

any ideas would be greatly appreciated,

    Dan

Buying a .co.uk or .com domain should certainly be the first step. It looks more professional and can then be integrated in to everything else from day one together with the associated email addresses. Nothing to me looks more mickey mouse than people using @aol or @btconnect etc addresses for business. 123reg have a very good reputation and are as cheap as anyone.

From there some cheap hosting, you could use 123reg again or maybe a cheap package with someone like Hostgator. From there it's just a case of either designing (or getting someone else to design) a site. If you want a quick way to try yourself then Joomla is pretty good and can be installed in a few clicks from most hosting companys control panels. It's very customisable and menu driven so you just update the content and don't have to worry too much about the code behind it.

For the domain name(s) and a years hosting you're only looking at say £50. The design costs can go from £0 to thousands depending on what your needs are.

As Hoponbaby says, buy a domain name first. If you want something easy to use and setup, try www.webnode.com you could have a site up in minutes, and it will do everything you need it to, all for the grand price of £0. You can then assign your domain name you bought, to the webnode name, and away you go.

Check with hosting first because they often throw in the domain name in the package.

Only thing with the free domain with the hosting co is if things go wrong or you have a dispute. At least if you hold the domain elsewhere you can just change the DNS and move the hosting.

If you want to save yourself a load of stress, then do not bother with free or super-cheap hosting.
It will only end it tears.

If you still require hosting, I can help.
I offer reliable UK hosting, on real servers, that are situated in UK data centers.
    (No foreign call centers).

    Cost in total is £45pyr = £3.75pm

    PM me for further details.
