Advice please

My son wants a PSP for Christmas.

I understand that you can download games from the internet and play them off a memory stick. Is there a specific model I need to get or can they all be modded?
It'll be a PSP slim as the Go is a bit too pricey.

Sorry for my complete lack of knowledge on this subject. I'll admit I'm a total n00b.

yes you can Mod them, and yes you can do it on on a Slim, and yes you can donwload games.

Games - When i did grab them, I used ESPALPSP, you have to sign up, but you get all new games on there as soon as they are out.

Hope this helps, if not certainly give you a step in right direction.

It might be an idea to see if you can buy a modded one, ( Once modded, you can use the " Network Update " feature on the PSP and update it very easily )

PS - You will need a Pandora batt if ur gonna try it urself. ( google pandora batt, it will explain )

Go to the webpage ( espalpsp.com ) and on the " right hand side at the top " there is login boxes, underneath that box is the word " registrate "

On the following page, click the tick box for accepting the terms and conditions

you will then have the following

Username is 1st box that needs completing, then >
contraseña = Password
dirección de correo electrónico = email address

Final box is where you have to type in the word you seen in the box on the right, after that I think you just click register at the bottom, and away you go.

games are on the left hand side, once youve used it once/twice, you'll fly round the website.

PS - i dont know spanish, i just googled what the words were
If you get stuck, gimme a username to create, email and password and ill set it up for ya matey!

well Ive got a Slim PSP that my mate modded for me about a year ago, and ive never had any probs with it. bought a 8GB proDuo card, and had about 10 games on there at one time. pretty slick. very good for when travelling.

Re: the new GO models, not sure about them dude. ill have a browse around on the net, see what i can find out

I think the older PSP Slim and Lite can be modded but the newer PSP 3000 ones can't.

The PSPgo cannot be modded.

So am I right in thinking that if I walked into a shop, bought a PSP slim that I wouldn't be able to mod it as it has to be an older one?

I think that is correct mate. I could be wrong as I haven't really kept up to date with the PSP but I don't think the 3000 is hackable yet.

psp 100x (fat one) and early psp 200x's can be modded to play game's direct from your mem card , psp 3000's can have custom firmware installed to them they just can't play the games from the mem stick hope this helps
