Buying a Laptop... Advice?

Hey guys, im after buying a laptop.

Wanna make sure i dont get done over money/spec wise.

I wanna spend about �500... are there any good deals floating around the net any of ya have seen?

I seen on some sites (novatech/tiny) that they got 2ghz, 265mb, 30-40gb HD for bout me price range.

any advances or experience with online companies? :nowords:

get a toshiba, they last for years, they are well built too and never loose performance wen they get older.

In the end I bought the Advent 7039 from EuroPC (out of stock when I last checked but Morgan might still have some). It's an AMD 64 3Ghz chip, 512 ram and the M10 radeon mobility. So far, pissed on anything I've thrown at it, it's really good looking, incredibly comfortable and has wifi and card readers etc all built in. It really is superb laptop for the money - and although they sellem as refurbs, mine came brand new in original protective polythene and also has a 1 year RTB warranty as the new one does.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Buy Tosh as said before The Tosh a60 is just over �500 from Dabs.com

Hmmm, that's a Celeron proc, ATI 7000 and no WiFi - plus it's only 14.1"

I'd still say go with the advent - or another refurb similar. Have a scout around Europc.com - they're level of service was unreal - had it delivered to me by 9am next day.

My mate got an advent and he had no end of trouble with it! Basically it kept sucking up dust in the fan at the back and this caused it to overheat. He sent it back 3-4 times to get it repaired but a month down the line it would do the same again. He ended up getting a toshiba instead. Oh i got an acer lappy and i cant speak more highly of them. Well built and acernotebooks is a good site.
