Skool daze & Warlock of firetop mountain.
Warlock wouldn't let you type rude words at the high score screen, it used to replace with "Strange thing to type"
i still play em to this day using the excellent SPECTACULATOR emu and some of the games don't really stand up these days and only have nostalgia value.
however, one which more than holds it's own is MANIC MINER
it has had heaps of praise dumped on it over the years and i went through a phase of thinking it was unjustified, but dload it and play it
40 years ahead of its time
i am in Eugene's Lair (on pause) as i type this
1983 and still classic
can you ask for more ?
btw the colditz game was THE GREAT ESCAPE another game that still holds it own
all available from www.worldofspectrum.org
and last btw - 3 lives and no save points used to separate the men from the boys didnt it. not like these days with things like RED FACTION 2 - 4 hours of a game at max
I was always a c-64 man myself!! classics such as beachheas 1 and 2!! fantastic!! I currently own about 18 c-64's in my loft always get em if i see em at car boots!! also have a few speccys even a rare boxed(worth a bit of cash) zx-80 !!!
AAAhh they were the days!!!
Had to be Eilite, lost many a weekend punting drugs and slaves while zapping coppers.
Jet Set Willy II and Splat! also took away my childhood.
G
One of my first games was Jet Pac - I had it on the cartridge too (V Rare) so I had instant load times!
Lunar Jetman - seeing it for the first time in W H Smiths - fantastic.
Typing in all those Peeks and Pokes to get extra energy, lives etc..
Dark Star on the Speccy had incredible vector graphics..
Anyone remember the Currah Speech System???
How about the first time you heard a C-64 shout GHOSTBUSTERS!!
So many memories, I know the games today are awesome and all that, but nothing can replace the feeling you got when you first clapped eyes on Impossible Mission by Epyx or Ballblaster on an Atari 800 - nothing
Manic Miner Rule'd
The definitive sprite-collision routine. What a git pixel-perfect collision went bald with frustration @ the age of 10
better add my 2 cents worth i guess...
720 degrees, Target Renegade and Rengade, Ikari Warriors, zynaps, into the eagles nest... ah the list goes on..
Anyone remeber the freescape games, stuff like driller was revolutionary back then.
remember going in whsmiths and seeing any new game by ULTIMATE PLAY THE GAME (now known as RARE) was something special, in them big boxes a bit like dvd case's.
