X Box, PSII, or Gamecube?

gc = very good name behind it, cheap & graphics equal to xbox

PS2 - purely for now, cos of the game situation....you cant be shelling out money for games....thats liike going back in time....

If your a games player then it a gamecube.

If your a mainstream type then its a PS2.

If your a rich git type then its a XBOX just to show off with.

a games player? these are ALL for gamesplayers....

but you have to decide what youre looking for to decide what you want to get.

If you want to spend little money and get a lot of entertainment, go with PS2, cuz its got about 50 GOOD games out of its 300 or whatever it has. Its easy to chip(ive done 3), and it pays for itself. It is however graphically undermined by both x-box and gamecube. I have also heard that PS2 has reached its prime possible...with not a lot of huge games on the way compared to what its got out already.

If you want graphics and plenty of premise, then go x-box as long as you can afford it. I think its got some solid games already but more importantly has a very bright future. I get to read plenty of magazines at work and im thuroughly impressed by what i see in X-Box Magazine.

If you want cheap, and you love Mario, Zelda, and Metroid, as well as great graphics, go with Gamecube. Yea the N64 was disappointing but it had its moments and any first party games are sure to be quality with Nintendo stamped on em.

My advice...get em all!!!! that prolly doesnt help though does it...

I have all three:

X-Box
=====

- Most powerfull technically (specs).
- Content is very very thin. There are not a lot of good games out there for it. In fact I might argue 2. Munch's Oddysee and Halo.

However, Halo got all this hype for nothing. it is not a 10 game by any stretch. I am not sure what pay-offs the reviewers got, but clearly they were. For people not used to play FPS, Halo would definitely be an eye opener, but more would be something like Medal of Honour: Allied Assault. There is no better game right now than that. The water in Halo is pathetic, the characters s little bit interesting, but otherwise stale. The gameplay is pretty decen. 4 player Multiplayer chomps. The framerate is in the toilet. Anyway, Halo is a Great game, but not 10... 8.5 for sure. Definitely a must for X-box.
- games are somewhat sterile for the most part - uninteresting. I have looked ahead for the next year or so in the release schedule, and I frankly don't see much that is worth buying.


Gamecube
=======
- Graphics are awesome. Arguably better than PS2 for sure, but *maybe* not as good as Xbox. Hard to judge empirically (I have seen all 3 run Madden and they all look more or less equal).
- Nintendo has great titles usually. Their current content is thin, but they get great ideas and are willing to try new shite and explore game concepts
- Nintendo has great franchises and good talent (plus they patched things up with Square).
- Some pretty darned interesting titles coming out this year.


PS2
======
- What can you say, except excellent console Giant. Nice system (perhaps not as strong technically as the other two, but we all know what drives a console: Content/Games. Specs do NOT drive a console.
- This platform has the largest number of titles available. Even it you think only 1% of the games are really really good/excellent (99% shite) [which in my opinion is you being bitter and unrealistic), then you are still talking about 10 - 20 really really good/excellent games which is much more than any of the other pltforms (read there are at least 1000 titles out for PS2 - not to mention the large number of PS1 titles).
- This is by far the most content rich platform and they are conituning to release more.


My ranking would be:

1. PS2
2. GC - this is an extremely close second because I have high hopes for Nintendo (and in fact if I had my heart set on New Gen, I would pick this up over PS2).
3. Xbox

This is just one person's opinion which is sure to be flamed given that it was posted in an Xbox area. D'oh! Oh well, flame away.

If a mod chip does come out that plays backups for GC, how are you going to burn a backup? Normal discs don't fit remember? Yes, i understand that the main "purpose" for a mod chip is playing imports and not backups, but at least 70% of the people that can't wait for a mod chip for their new console are wanting it for backups. Listen to all the "get a PS2" phreaks for a prime example. Not trying to piss anyone off, not trying to get flamed, just curious why I keep seeing these posts that say, "Hey Raptor, great work, now do GC."

i got all 3, X-Box with Flashed Bios and 40 GB hard drive (over 30 games), Playstation 2 with ******* chip (over 200 games), gamecube with about 10 games - still think the PS2 is crap - the only things going for it are Metal Gear Solid 2, Grand Theft Auto 3 and Vice City - when i go uni in a few days i am taking the Cube with me and giving my PS2 to my sister - the x-box will be kept at home so i can swap it with the cube each time i come home
