    Default Peugeot 406 Boot trick

Just seen on Watchdog that the Peugeot 406's boot can be opened within 5 seconds using your bare hands because it has a fault that has only just been admitted by the makers ' Peugeot'

Watchdog would not show you how it was done, as that would be irresponsible on their part, so i was wondering if anyone on here knows of how it is done. According to them, it takes less than 5 seconds and you can do it with your bare hands!.

    try ripping it open perhaps?

I heard a story once that you could get into an old Fiesta (when they made the XR2) by kicking the lock sideways.

I don't know if it is true but maybe it has some revelance to this.

the front doors of my _old_ (old v-reg) mazda could be opened by turning the front part of the lock where u put the key in, using anything that could fit in the gap. luckily, in those days, there weren't much car crime and there weren't much worth nicking from there!

also heard a rumour about being able to open doors by putting half a tennis ball over the lock and then whacking it one.

the half tennis ball trick used to work on central locked doors on older cars. old transits used to work with a bang on the back door in a certain place

i dont know the trick for the peugeot but im sure it would involve finding a boot release wire close to bumber /wing etc. you be suprised how easy it is to open a boxster front bonnet !!

most cars have their weak points ( i know some as we used to repo them)

my old escort eclipse when i had one was done by the old tennis ball trick i think, as someone had dented around the lock, but no damage to the lock

I don't know the 406 trick, but I remember some old ones:

    Tennis ball over lock
This works on old Mercedes and some others, it relies on the central locking system being hydraulic. Cut a hole the size of the lock barrel in a tennis ball, put it over the lock, and twat it with a hammer.

    Fiesta XR2/Escort XR3i
I don't know which XR2s this worked on, but it was on the Series II XR3is with the stepped rear light clusters. Give the boot lock a swift sideways click and the boot pops up.

    Rover 200 Series I
Getting on a bit now, but this affected the old 213/216s. The central locking wiring loom went over the drivers wheelarch. You could pull it out from here and there was a connector block. Unplug it and short two pins (I forget which) and the locks pop up.

Any Austin/Rover Ignition up to about 1990
The 213/216 as well as Metro/Maestro/Montego had the ignition switch wiring loom going through the fuse box (which you can open with a penny) with an easily-accessible connector block. Short two pins and the ignition is live, then short two more and drive away!

    Old Mercs
Used to have the key number embossed inside the petrol filler flap.

The new VW lock thing can't be too complicated, you can do it from the outside of the car. Must be gaining access to wires or something.

tennis ball used to work on all old granadas with central locking too, easiest though is the old talbot alpine (not the renault alpine) side of your fist against the passenger lock and up it would pop (drivers door needed a fast quater turn with a half a lollypop stick).

on second thoughts, i think the real old jag was easiest, front drivers wheelarch had a switch that opened the central locking, because it was new and they feared customers might lock themselves out of the car (they did, it was the aa guy who showed me where to find the button after the dog trod on the lock button inside the car)

    GingerTosser:

Hehehe I'm not from Salford, I'm originally from Bristol, I'm a student at Salford university.

Maybe I should go and learn some new tricks from the local scallies though.

Anyone remember anything about using a 12v power source to get into a Mondeo using the brake light or something?
