    ... not KoRn!

"Freak on a leash" my arse! I had high hopes about that band and was deeply disappointed when I heard it.

Korn do rock, but I would describe them more as Nu-Metal. I've heard a few track's from Untouchables and it is an improvement on Issues

Korn were good in 94 when i bought there first album, now its all a bit dated

Rock is such a big category! If you narrow it down i might be able to help...

Respect and RIP goes out to Layne Staley, ALice in Chains are still one of the best bands of all time.

Yeah, i'm hoping MTV have the decency to show AIC unplugged sometime soon...there was a hold day of tribute to that Lefteye woman from TLC and shes done FA for the music industry barre put men down...

Metal rules, nu-metal sucks (thus, Korn sucks), and yes, Alice in Chains will forever be one of the bands I can't live without. Layne wasted his life before our eyes, but what can we do about it now?

Without AiC your poseur nu-metal crap wouldn't have anyone to rip off (in a really shitty way).

The AiC MTV Unplugged rules so much; I listen to it every time I'm driving my car anywhere. As for the TLC person, it's bad she died, but frankly, I think the forms of mass media (MTV) are putting her above Layne. That's a crime. AiC were one of the big three influential Seattle grunge bands (Soundgarden ruled too, Nirvana... ehh they were OK). TLC didn't even compose and perform their own music, did they? Maybe just write lyrics (if that)...

When I occasionally turn past MTV, it's like Layne never even died. Instead, it seems as if "Left-eye" only died yesterday. Then again, my opinion is biased as I hate hip-hop of all forms. Of course MTV will frequently show reminders that someone from the current pop scene is deceased. Pop = money, and that's all anybody wants in the end.

Why am I posting at this time? Today's been a long day.

I heard about a video of a guitar "duel" between the three 'best guitarists in the world' (as voted for by some magazine or other).

That was Joe Satriani Vs Steve Vai (Satrianis student) Vs Tom Morello (from Rage Against The Machine).

That would be so weird because Satriani and Vai both have a pretty similar style of playing (owing a lot to a minimum of 8 hours a day practise!). Morello though is a completely different player. The format was that each guitarist would take a verse then all three would play on the chorus bit. Morellos verses sounded like a DJ on the decks or something. Apparently at one point he started taking the piss a bit and played a Satch style solo while the rest of them just laughed.

I love guitarists like that who can express themselves fully through their instruments. They can play what they hear in their head and aren't limited by ability.

i dont think i have heard much about that, but i'm not a huge fan of morello... i recently read an article in some guitar mag that held him up in the same light as hendrix and van halen...i dunno bout that!

Tom Morello is a great guitarist, purely for the reason that he is so unique! The sounds he creates are out of this world!

Steve Vai is the best person to see live. He's the only person that can play a 3 hour set and make you be there thinkin...oh my god, someone pinch me...for the whole thing. He's awesome.
