    Dish aligning with monoblock

    Hi

I have recently purchased an 80cm dish witch monoblock lnb to use with my dvb-s card in my pc! i am however having some trouble lining this up! Could anyone possibly help?!?!?!

I have managed to pick up some channels but do not know whether they are hotbird or astra! nor which of the actual lnb thingies these channels are being picked up by (don't know which one is which!?!)

    Help PLEASEE!!!

is there any satellite finding or signal strength software for the pc or anything that can help me at all

any help would be much appreciated

    cheers

    a very fed up Lemaru

Although i havent yet got a dvb-s card My idea would be to

    - tune into an analogue channel on astra 19 with the software, then get someone else to move the lnb around! its worth a try.

MD8 has a signal meter somewhere, but i dont know how fast it responds!

Following on from this, I've got much the same problem except I'm using a Humax 5400. I can get full coverage on either Astra or Hotbird but not both together. There seems to be too much travel between locating the two to make it possible to receive both on the same dish but I know this isn't the case.

I've got absolutely no instructions with any of my kit so would appreciate any help anybody has to offer on setting up a system straight from the crate as all the tutorials I've found tell me nothing of any use!

I'm in NW England with a 98cm dish and a clear line of sight and have a beeper doofer to locate the satellites for what it's worth.

    Here's hoping!

Same as, I've just got an 80cm dish and monoblock LNB. Can get most of Hotbird, but very little on Astra.

Does one LNB need to be higher than the other?

Does the Hotbird need to be central with the Astra to the side?

    Or vice versa?

Please help, we've spend days trying but to no avail!

yeah one of the lnb's does need to be slightly higher! i cant think which one i got as which and cant be arsed to go and have a look!

this is wot i done! i put the monoblock on the dish with the clamp on the lnb arm around the feed on the right (as u look down on it from the back of the dish) then i lined it up on astra as best as i could and moved the other up and down until i got reception on hotbird! got about 56% on hotbird and a little higher on astra!

Thanks, I've tried this but still cannot get channels like RTL & ZDF. It's a pain because when I had it rigged up to the single LNB it worked fine, a little blocky where I was running it through the very wrong type of cable but I got all the channels. Now no matter what I do, I can get hotbird fine but astra still has a few transponders missing.

    I'm totally at a loss!

bolt the mono block on to the dish arm. the lnb that sits above this should be aimed at hotbird. the offset lnb is used for astra.the offset lnb should be set about 1cm higher

    euronews fta hotbird
    12597 V
    27500 - 3/4
    hasta la yeah baby yeah!

Thanks for all you're help guys. I got an engineer out and it turns out after all that the LNB was faulty.

Got it replaced and everything is A OK.

    Thanks again.
