    Help newbie to psp unlocking

    i have done my research and i find things very conflicting i have just got a psp i assume it is a psp2000 as this is the serial # AW-PSP2001 and also the current system software is Version 3.60 does anyone know if this is unlockable and if i can run downloaded games and set up an emulator on it,

    Simply put, yes it can be done, edit out your serial though fella.

    Because it's the 2001, and it would appear to be shipped with 3.60 then a simple Pandora will get you on the right path to homebrew firmware on your PSP

    ok so i need to buy a pandora battery, ill have to find out where to buy one from ...also just noticed that it has not come with a memory card, so i need to get one is there a cirtain one or can i get any type that fits into a psp?

    You want a Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo for the PSP Slim. Largest that works is 4GB

    thanks again, glad u mentioned a 4gb is the largest that works as i was gonna get a bigger one so i can load loads of stuff on there for when i go away (films n games etc) can i get more than 1 card or will i need to re format each one?

    Get as many as you like mate. different things on each. I have about 4-5 1GB ones kicking about (cheap deal last year) and I put lots of things on and swapped them about when needed The firmware is stored on the chip in the console and it simply accesses the data on the card so no problems with swapping and changing

    looks like im gonna go and buy 1 tomorrow in town to do the hack and then go online and buy a load more online

    Link looks good and a lot easier than it used to be when I got my phat! I remember having to install about 4 or 5 firmwares to get it up to date.

    yeah i have also been advised to check what mother board i have too, so i am currently downloading an upgrade to take my system to 5.03 (thats what they all seem to be using) then im going to be running something called Chickhen to find it out gonna take a while but then it will be worth it

    DONT UPGRADE!!!

    Its alot easier to downgrade via the older firmwares.

    I'm using an 8 gig on mine. Mine is a Phat one does that make any difference ?

    I've got an adapter with 2 micro sd slots i have put 2 8 gig cards in and works a treat. It's called Photofast cr 5400 if youre interested can take 2 16gig cards
