The PPV limit is stored on the card and the STB

so the phone trick does not work, and dont listen
to anyone who tells you it does.

even if u put a new card in when u reach the PPV
limit on the old one it is automatically written to the
    new card.

i would have to say that if a hack became available
then it would be ECM'd very soon afterwards

and we would be back to the start

also the cards used abroad are proper sly cards, but
    registered to a UK address.

From the sound of it GSD, it's jsut a standard MATV system, where they have multiple receivers (or a purpose built multichannel out unit) and are just combining the outputs into the cable feed, the sort of system you will find in hotels. This sort of system can give up to 20 or so channels.

I found this on a web page probably a hoax, still looking into it

    Have Videoguard Been Compromised !!!

Only until recently NDS/Videoguard used by Sky Digital was the safest inscription system in Europe. All the efforts by hackers were good only for a week and then something was going wrong again and there was no cure. Unless you paid the subscription charge you could not watch SKY.
Apparently all it takes is to concentrate not on the smart card but on the official receiver itself, The DigiBox. It's Stated that the hardware inside the Philips box needs to be slightly modified and the whole package including the Pay per View programs is visible for free without the use of any smart card.

Ive heard u can change the symbol rates on a box using libdebug, but nobody seems to know the exact commands.

If this is possible the box could act as a fta reciever (maybe for feeds etc)

my sister is married to a spaniard and she says that she get free sky channels , i have tried to coax her into explaining wot she has but being a women its not something she goes into 1 on. all i could get out of her is that the card has something built on it that resembles scaffolding (i know this sound stupid but if any1 knows wot she means i would be gratefull ) any way i am going out there in august so hopefully i will be able 2 find something out

Rap - hope u dont mind this going a bit off topic

There was a product available a couple of years back that allowed enabled different channels on various symbol rates. That product was called digi memo

    http://www.satcure.co.uk/digimemo.htm

Now from reading it in more detail ive come to the conclusion that it works on the same principle as libdebug ie puts the box into standby mode.

I have come to this conclusion by

    (a) they state digimemo only works on pace boxes, so does libdebug

    (b) digimemo puts box into stand by mode so does libdebug

By executing certain commands, in theory it should be possible to allow various symbol rates to work - on a temporary basis.

I'm pretty sure they are a con, i read a post somewhere about these characters no-one has ever recieved a card or one that works on all sky channels.
I'd give them a wide berth unless anyone can correct me.

There will always be people advertising for used boxes, there is a huge European market for them, not because of any hack, just that people can get BBC free to view cards for them.
