    Default WTF: Hosting Company

Guys, any ideas on why a hosting company may block my works IP address, as most lunchtmes I like to work on my various sites, and all of a sudden I cant access the sites or hosting company, yet if I was at home, or phoned a friend, you would be able to access them.

Dont see any reason as to why my works IP has been blocked.

Any thoughts, have emailed them, not good though as only been with them for three months, during that time the hosting company has been down twice. And now I find my works IP is blocked.

Anybody recommend any good Uk hosting companies which give me true unlimted domain s ???

    Cheers

Do you work for a net filtering company or something? A lot of sites will filter people who work for companies that do that just as a sort of "Fuck you" but I have really never heard of a professional hosting company doing it

Are you sure your work isnt filtering it out? Or cacheing a version of the page from when it was down?

It'll be your work blocking the ip of your server, not the other way around

I can't think of any reason why a host would block an incoming ip

IP was being blocked by the hosting company reactive IP blocking software. Great ... not !!! Anyway since I emailed them, they have lifted the block and I can now view my site and their site ... Not convinced yet, as within the three months I have been with them, they have had 2 outages and now this little problem ... may move hosting companies . as cant afford anymore down time, as have another few sites I want to get up and running.

Cheers for your input though guys.

My hosting company does this too, and I think it's good.
they have now added my work IP so not a problem, but at the end of the day its good security.
