Problem with Professor Layton

Just grabbed an R4 SDHC, popped 1.14b FW on it. All games seem fine except Profesor Layton and the curious village.
It loads, asks to enter name, it then says hello etc, but then freezes.
When you restart the game, the name entered isnt saved and you have to enter name again, but it does exactly the same. Does anybody have any clues on how to get around this.

Not sure if its the same as with the DSTT but with that you get same problem if there is a space in the filename
