Help Top Gaming Tv's for the Xbox One

    http://www.techradar.com/news/televi...nd-ps4-1158413

Really struggling with the lag on my Samsung Le46C750R2 in HDMI1/ DVI

When I switch game mode on the graphics look shite but response time is better.
Been messing with the calibration on the xbox and on the Tv.

What are your settings and TV setups?

    My tv is http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/samsu...0100709761.htm

    Console Gaming

The Samsung LE40C750 lags by about 41ms with [Game Mode] enabled, which is enough to cause problems with games requiring lightning-quick reflexes. Slower-paced games were still a lot of fun on this display, but “one hit and you’re dead” online games were more frustrating than they were enjoyable. We really hope that more manufacturers recognise how big an issue input lag is and reduce it for future models, because there are really only two brands who seem to be catering to gamers at the moment.
For those curious, with the [Game mode] turned off (and without any [Motion Plus] processing turned on), the Samsung LE40C750 lagged by about 103ms. Both of these figures reflect 1080p/60hz input to the TV.

I sold a samsung led TV a couple of years ago for this very reason. The new sonys are the fastest TVS at the minute. I use Panasonic plasma which performs pretty well .
Hdtvtest is excellent for proper technical reviews.

Interesting read. I never thought such issue would arise. When I plugged in my PS to the Sony TV, the TV recognise it as a PS and asked if I wanted it to do auto settings. With such consoles being quite a staple part of many front rooms, I wonder why this feature is not something more TV manufactures and console makers have been pushing?

Might there be similar issues with Projectors?

    Cheers.....Q

As manufacturers put more complex processing more lag was inevitably added to the systems . Game Modes often didn't help much. Not many people bothered measuring it and many didn't notice the extra lag I guess . Anyone playing a twitch shooter would notice though . Thankfully manufacturers have started sorting it - with Sony leading the way for consumer TVs . Probably due to the fact they had a new console out

One tip for older HD tvs is to download the latest firmware online, I did this for my LG from the company site and stuck it on a usb stick. Improved the sound quality no end and the picture was slightly better too (had to re-optimise the settings but it was worth it).

Whilst that may include a few fixes or optimisations it's highly unlikely to fix input lag. Also, very few manufacturers bother making firmware updates for long - once next years shiny new range is out all development shifts to that.
Worth a punt though - though of course it could make it worse !

Will second that.. updated my firmware and it fixed all kinds of issues with Full HD lag.. also was an LG
I know what you mean about firmware support braymond but in the case of LG and I'm sure other makes there is "hacked/opensource" firmware and groups supporting new features all the time with a convenient list of models it will work on...
I know there is a risk with unofficial firmware e.t.c but I did try one with no probs..

I'm not averse to using any firmware - custom or otherwise . It sounds like lg ship sets with firmware even flakier than most ! Standard practice these days, same with my current employer - Fix it after .The bottleneck for lag is usually hardware based and I'm surprised a firmware update would fix this . It must have been particularly bad .

It was shit to be fair... not long after I got it I phoned up LG customer service because from the USB it kept having problems playing HD content and was hit and miss at liking one file then not the next (even with same encoding)
Obviously it was someone in CS that was lacking in English skills.. I kept telling him the problems and kept saying try this and try that...
Eventually he came back and said (in pigeon english) I have spoken to my supervisor and he said the model you have is a HD TV but does not support HD playback via USB...
I asked to speak to said supervisor and read to him the specs of my TV from the User manual clearly stating it support HD via USB e.t.c we argued for a while
then I was put on hold again then finally told where I could download a firmware update from which cured most problems

I have just realized how much I just waffled and apologize for the several minutes of your lives you just used up reading this ;-)

    Thanks to macmilm
