R4 Question

A friend has bought a DS Light and an R4 card, i have loaded the latest firmware i can find and installed some games, the only problem is that the games are taking between 40-50 secs to load, is this normal on the lastest cards.

I have a very old version on my DS which uses the slot at the botton as well and the games load within seconds on mine.

The Box for the R4 is described as - R4 SDHC Upgrade

Am i doing something wrong or is this normal with the new cards.

seems too long to me, my old R4 was nice and quick. Not used on ein years though, last time i set one up for a friend i used the YSmenu instead of the official one.

You sure you got the correct FW on, as theres lots of them out there.
Might be the sd card that is corrupt. It`s Worth formatting to fat32 then sticking on the FW then 1 game to see. if its faster. Should take less than 10 seconds to load a game

What size sd card? as i had this problem with a 4 gig so i switched to a 2 gig loads very fast now

Or you could just buy a betetr card and get a cyclo

what size games are you trying to load mate, takes longer to load bigger games

sizes are generally 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256 MB

256MB games take longer to load than 8 MB ones for example but that still seems like a long time, what version r4 have you got?

i know some of the clone cards don't work that well, only certain size sd cards work etc. best to get something from a good source. my r4i works atreat in my dsi
