Help UK to USA Antenna Input

    Hi all,

I have recently moved to Canada and took our LG 42" plasma with us. It is dual voltage and works fine here however the antenna input for the aerial is different (which we didnt know) instead of it being the normal UK coaxial input it is more like the SAT cable input on the back on a SKY+ box I.e. smaller with a screw thread.

Bit difficult to explain but someone might be out there and be able to help in regards to what adaptor I would need to convert the antenna to US connector so we can put a US type aeril into the TV.

Without taking the TV into the stores the Canadians aint got a clue what Im talking about!

Hope the above makes sense and thanks for all your help.

    Regards

Would the internal analogue tuner work out there though?

    Hi,

dont know as of yet but as the TV says PAL/NTSC thought it should. Most things here are cable or SAT so when we get it working will go down that route which should work with it being digital... we hope LOL

Hi and thanks for your speedy reply.

That looks like the correct adaptor so will get one sent to parents to send on and give it a try.

    Thanks once again

Have you got the exact model number mate?

The panels themselves can usually accept either a PAL or NTSC input which are sold here but the tuners themselves are usually just PAL.

If that doesn't work with that adaptor there you'd just need to get say a cable box out there and hook that up and that should let you use all your devices then - if you were to buy a TV out there a lot of the time I think they can handle NTSC inputs only so all your PAL devices wouldn't work - it's a right ballache really!

    ..: Edit :..
Just had a quick nosey and they're using ATSC for digital broadcasts in the US & Canada whereas over here it's DVB-T - it's more than likely your set will only be able to decode DVB-T - not ATSC - and so you'd need an external tuner.
