There's a lot of different products out there m8, as a minimum you should have anti-virus protection which should be kept up to date with the latest virus definitions, my choice for that is Norton Antivirus 2002. You should also have a personal firewall, I use Zone Alarm Pro. Other alternatives depend on whether you want free protection (AVG anti virus and Zone Alarm) or whether you want to pay for it.

How about a positive LSD story? Would you like to see a positive LSD story on the news to hear what's it all about, perhaps? Wouldn't that be interesting just once?

I/m only using dialup but the Pc is on pretty much 24/7 and I use Agnitum Outpost Pro Crack

It's simple to install / setup and seems excellent.

Also Zone Alarm is extremely popular aswell.

As for Anti Virus I use F-Secure

    The serial for which is:-

    ELL0-XVKP-YY4P-LEPP-JB3X

It's a corporate AVP and I found it to be the best.

I use Norton Personal Firewall and McAfee anti virus.
never have any probs with them.

have not instaled norton anti virus yet, as see no need at the mo'

readily avail for download on most p2p progs.

I use WinRoute and block every port not being used, also Winroute works as a DHCP, DNS forwarder, MAIL server etc so you can run a home network. Don't use IIS its crap and full of holes!

if you've got an old box lying around try smoothwall - www.smoothwall.org - it's based around a cut-down linux distro and has been excellent..

totally web based and if you're new to linux it's extremely easy to install, just boot off the cd and you're away..

one thing to be aware of though is that it destroys all data on the hdd, that's why it's a good idea to use a really old machine that you'd otherwise have no use for now...

Ive got a DSL Router with a hardware NAT Firewall, Will that and antivirus software on my PC be enough or should I use a software firewall on the PC too?

    tef89,

I've managed to install agnitum on my PC, complete with a crack. I've noticed tonight that ip 216 12 219 12 (agnitum) is showing up as a connection request under attack detection. This is happening every 2 minutes. Is this normal, or have I been sussed. Am I just paranoid, and if so, who is spreading the rumours

If you suspect someone got in, you can use Trojan Remover to detect anything that the anti virus didn't pick up. It also tells you if you have any suspicious ports open, and what trojans could be using those ports. Also, they update the software and definitions all the time.

    Default Smoothwall -> IPCop

IPCop is based on the same codebase as Smoothwall, but doesn't have any of the annoying adverts for the "professional" version of Smoothwall.

There was a lot of dissatisfaction with the ppl behind Smoothwall, so IPCop was born.

I moved to IPCop from SmoothWall and can confirm that it's as easy to install and use (it's 99% the same code).

    Default other software

Also use GRISoft AVG and use Opera for browsing and mail(only use IE for site's that use Msoft HTML)

Although IE is a great browser, I feel that Ms concentrate on features rather than security.

IE/Outlook are IMHO probably the biggest security risks on most people's systems at the moment.

Opera is a great poweruser's browser, excellent keyboard shortcuts and tweakability.

A good firewall m8 - is the way to go

software firewalls are not as good as hardware firewalls

If you have a modem/router with NAT use it.

Run a Linux box as my firewall along with a router
    Have Fun.
