Not being funny but I thought the test menu maker only went up to 3.
Not had time to try it myself...
I've had 4 games on one CD, so I assume it will go higher...???
I have yet to Confirm more than 4 though....
OK here goes.
first off I have only done this with 4 games so far, but it should go up to 6 in the newer version of the Game selector 0.7b
Game Selector Guide.
* REQUIREMENTS *
Up to 6 Xbox Iso's
Xbox 0.7b GameSelector
Primo DVD burner 2
Xbox Isotool 1.1
* OVERVIEW "
NOTE Folders are always written in UPPERCASE.
The confusion for this seems to be with the structure you are burning to the DVD. there is no structured added by you - its a simple combine all the files together IN the root folder and then burn them, But do not burn the ROOT folder itself.
e.g
ROOT FOLDER > game1, game2, game3 etc. + game selector files & folders
burned as
DVD - game1, game2, game3 etc. + game selector files & folders
No ROOT FOLDER.
* DIRECTIONS *
First of all extract the GameSelector to you Harddrive. you should get this
XBOX ROOT DIR folder
Default.xbe
Selector.xml
MEDIA Folder
All the files you copy go directly into the XBOX ROOT DIR Folder.
Now you need to use the Xbox Isotool 1.1 to extract the first Game Iso into its separate files and folders. Do this in a seperate folder, not directly into the game selector as you need to edit the files after extraction. Check out the readme that come with that tool to do this, it does tend to crash on empty folders so some games have to be done by hand, at the end of the day you need all the files and folders as they are in the ISO intact on your HDD.
Example - Fe_mans made up Xbox game
Default.XBE
Data.dat
dfforum.dat
VIDEO folder
GRAPHICS folder
THIS IS THE IMPORTANT BIT
There is always a Default.xbe file in the root of any game Iso you extract - It must be renamed BEFORE you copy the game files into the XBOX ROOT DIR folder.
For gameselector version 0.5 they are renamed to Default1.xbe up to Default4.xbe as it had a 4 game limit.
Version 0.7b allows up to 6 games so it uses letters instead of numbers hence you need to rename the Default.xbe your first game DefaulA.xbe. NOTE REMOVE THE T of defaulT <<
Each game you add is the next letter DefaulB.xbe, DefaulC.xbe etc up to DefaulF.xbe
Example - Fe_mans made up Xbox game
DefaulA.xbe <<<<<<
Data.dat
dfforum.dat
VIDEO folder
GRAPHICS folder
so once you have renamed the Default.xbe from your extracted Game Iso you copy all the files and folders from it into the XBOX ROOT DIR folder.
so you now have this
Example - Fe_mans made up Xbox game
XBOX ROOT DIR folder
Default.xbe
DefaulA.xbe
Data.dat
dfforum.dat
Selector.xml
MEDIA Folder
VIDEO folder
GRAPHICS folder
Thats basically it. You now drag the contents of the XBOX ROOT DIR to a DVDR/RW in Primo.
Select New > Data Disc
set the burning options to MODE 1 and Disc at once DOA closed and UDF - up to 128 character, plus 8+3 tree.
Burn away and hopefully bobs you uncle!.
NOTE : You can also edit the names that appear in the game selector menu by editing the XML files but I havent tested this yet so I am not including this in the Guide yet.
Please excuse any spelling error.
Hope this helps
Cheers

Perfect Guide m8 - worked first time. I have also edited the 'select.xml' file and added the names of the game. I have 5 on 1 DVD and it works a treat.
Good Work M8

i gotta agree there ..... nice work fe_man2000I'm going to make this excellent piece of work a sticky
I think he means DefaulA.xbe to DefaulF.xbe ant this point. This is because incase u need to edit file if they reloading themselves so it doesnt go back to the game selector menu.Originally posted by fe_man2000
OK here goes.
Each game you add is the next letter DefaultB.xbe, DefaultC.xbe etc up to DefaultF.xbe
But apart from that... a brilliant guide.
DOH ! Hes right - I have edited it.
Sorry Guys.
Cheers

Excellent Guide - although what happens if a number of extractions have the same directory - am guessing you dont put it in the compilation then ?
not its not a problem - the directorys are often shared
e.g a the MEDIA folder is used on a lot of Xbox games - as long as the files are not over written then the folders can contain more than 1 games data.

to add there maybe be calls in the xbe file to itself... Change these. Some may however be impossilbe depend how it invokes itself again. e.g. #s.xbe
I have made a Multi game DVD with program described above, although i nowday's rather prefer Microsoft.Hacked.MenuX.XBOX-COMPLEX. But i haven't yet tried more than 4 games & i now wonder if anyone have tried with more than 4 games?
k guyz =)
first of all props 2 fe_man2000 for the nice tut
i exactly did it the same way described in your tut but edited the XML file. i testet the following 6 games:
Dave Mirra 2 (Rip)
Gun Valkyrie (Full)
NHL 2002 (Full)
NBA2002 (Full)
Crazy Taxi 3 (Full)
UFC Tapout (Full)
Results:
NHL2002, NBA 2002, Gun Valkyrie and UFC Tapout are running fine.
Crazy Taxi 3 starts ... loads ... a black screen pops up .... loads .... loads ... loads ...doesn't stop to load.
Dave Mirra 2 won't even start. after selecting the game from the 0.7b Menu the Menu Pops Up again. it definetely refuses to start loading.
I'm using EvoX 2.2 without any Modchip - just flashed the Bios.
IMHO Dave Mirra2 refuses 2 load because its a rip - perhaps you shouldn't combine Rips and FullDVDs to one DVD-R. any other xperiences? i've aboslutely no clue why Crazy Taxi 3 refuses to start...
need held m8s !
I have tried using a few different game selectors and cannot get Crazy Taxi to run from them. Runs okay from the HD and if burned on its own, as soon as it is put into a directory on a multi-game disk it all goes tits-up!

Like others here, I've had problems with some games when making a compilation (namely PGR and Crazy Taxi3). I have been using complex xmenu, as its the nicest looking, packing the iso using xiso and burning using recordnow max. I tried all the other launchers/menu systems with no luck on some of these games.
I've just discovered that these games seem to work fine with no problems, if I dont package up the iso using xiso, but instead burn directly to a disc using the UDF 128 bridge.
dude dont bother with the shitty .07 game selector, get the hacked menux released by complex. it lets you completely customize the M$ demo launcher(you'll be launching the actual games not demos) look in #xbins on efnet. however it wont launch games that are on the hdd to much disappointmet =( but it works great from dvd.
I`ve just got 10 games on 1 dvdr (inc crazy taxi 3) using the M$ demo launcher works a treat ..9 full games and 1 rip
yepo m8s .. you're right. this f00kin' gameselector is a bunch of crap. HackedMenuX is the way to go
@Monkfish:
did you edit the *.xbe files using a hexeditor? some friend of mine told me that you're forced 2 do this with CT3 cuz it has some kind of in game xbe detection ...?
