    If you do manage to mess up the menu.ini, just boot from a CDRW that contains the one that you extracted from the original iso anyway.

    (in other words, make sure you have a working copy of the original EvoX iso's default.xbe and menu.ini on a CDRW and that you can sucessfully boot, before messing with menu.ini)

    It appears that if you boot a disk with EvoX on it, the menu.ini on the disk is the one that's loaded instead of the broken one you messed up on the HD.

    Once it's booted from the CDRW version of EvoX, just FTP a new menu.ini over the top of the fux0red one on the HD.. Then reboot the XBox.

    The key to it is MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A BACK UP THAT YOU CAN BOOT before messing with anything.

    ok, i ripped halo to hard drive, tried using xboxisotool to rebuild the files it ripped, but it dont rebuild an iso file, when i try open the file it did create it wont let me burn it, any ideas guys
    There's a known bug in xboxisotool that won't let you build iso's of Halo and SSX Tricky. No fault on your part

    Whack it on your HDD instead

    thnx m8, i didnt know that BUT, im gettin the same problem whatever game i try, i cant rebuild the files back into an iso file, this is what im doing. i rip a game to my hard drive and put it in a folder called xboxiso, then i

    open xboxisotool
    in the build iso from content root directory, i choose the xboxiso folder.
    in the target directory i just leave blank and dont change a thing, but i have also tried browsing to the same folder as the one above.

    then when it builds the file its not an iso file, its just called like doa3.file

    so when i choose the folder all the files are in what do i put in the target iso option, do i browse to the sme folder, do i type anything in here at all, thanks for any input guys, im still burstin to give this a bash.

    Its all about the menu

    how do you make a link on evox to get into the original ms dash plz help me out
    You have to edit the menu.ini file. Heres an example of mine:

    #tDoBIOS=1,
    #tDoFlashBIOS=2,
    #tDoDash=3,
    #tDoLaunchMenu=4,
    #tDoReboot=5,
    #tDoNetwork=6,
    #tDoHarddisk=7,
    #tDoLaunch=8,

    Section "Root"
    {

    Item "MS Dashboard","C:\msdash.xbe"
    Item "Reboot",@5

    Section "System Utils"
    {
    Item "Network",@6
    Item "Harddisk",@7

    }

    Section "Launch Menu"
    {
    Section "Games"
    {
    Item "Hunter: The Reckoning","e:\Games\Hunter\default.xbe"
    AutoAddItem "e:\games\"
    AutoAddItem "f:\games\"

    }

    Section "Apps"
    {

    Item "Mame-X","E:\Mame\default.xbe"
    AutoAddItem "e:\apps\"
    AutoAddItem "f:\apps\"
    }
    }
    }

    what I did was edit the original xboxdash.xbe and renamed it to msdash.xbe. Loaded the Evolution X xboxdash.xbe into C:, so when you boot upo it loads evolution X and if you want the original xbox dash you would select the first option called 'MS Dashboard' in this case, it could be anything you want i suppose

    ****REMEMBER****
    BACK UP YOUR ORIGNAL XBOX DATA!!! STORE IT ON YOU COMPUTER!!! You can really f00k up your xbox :
    You were warned (I didn't have any problems though)

    Specify a different dir altogether when building the iso. I think it's storing the iso in the dir as it builds it, and then gets confused when it tried to add the file it's saving to the iso...

    Kinda gets into a continuous circle.

    I still find that ver 1.0 is more stable than 1.1 sometimes as well... perhaps try with both.

    Ok now i've got a bit of a problem here....

    I've copied the game (Hunter) to my PC Hard Drive. Uploaded it to the xbox in E:\Games\Hunter\....Used the menu.ini above to execute the default.xbe file. But it doesn't load, shows the evolution x screen and then loads right back to the evolution dashboard. Anyone know whats happening?

    I've also tried to use the RAW commands to execute the default.xbe file and it doesnt do anything...???

    So I loaded the original disk, started playing it, and it reset back to the dashboard when trying to load a scene. Freaked/freaking me out. Need HELP!!!!!

    The game is protected and therefore needs to be patched.

    but now ive got a ghost in the machine coz my xbox wont boot up any game at all, it just goes to the evox screen and wont let me choose ms dash, i have not changed a thing, it was working fine before booting games and connecting to flashfxp, all i did was the copying and renaming of the xboxdash.xbe files, i havent changed ANYTHING else.

    Actually I burnt it as data with primo using UDF and DAO...worked great, perfect copy

    Also, here's a tip for everyone. Dont mess with your menu.ini file too much. FTP your apps directly to a folder in E:\games, F:\games, E:\apps, E:\games (you have to make them first of course), which is consistant with the autoadditem fields. That way you dont have to mess with your text editor everytime you want to "install" something Instead, your folder names will be listed automatically in the menu.

    Here's my .ini, i disabled flashing because I have enig and also us autoadditem exclusively.

    #tDoBIOS=1,
    #tDoFlashBIOS=2,
    #tDoDash=3,
    #tDoLaunchMenu=4,
    #tDoReboot=5,
    #tDoNetwork=6,
    #tDoHarddisk=7,
    #tDoLaunch=8,

    AutoAddItem "f:\games\"

    }

    AutoAddItem "e:\apps\"
    AutoAddItem "f:\apps\"
    }
    }

    I also excluded the demos...

    In prassi, go to full application (bypass the wizard menu), go to new job and choose data disc...drag the folders and files onto the disc file area. Then right click on any file or folder and click "recording options". In that screen, under DVD (or CD if you are doing a CD of course), where it says File SystemType, choose "up to 128 in filename length, any char., plus 8+3(Bridge)" ... Where it says Recording Type, choose "Disc at once, closed"

    Hi,

    I created a menu.ini with one game in it. i.e. MOTOGP

    The option MOTOGP came up when I booted x-box. I had no other option.

    I then deleted this file from c:\ and rebooted. The Evo options re-appeared i.e. MS Dash , Reboot, Network etc.
