Well, I was talking about ProjectX's release, so I guess there is no protection left... ?

Do you really think games check the dashboard version?

I doubt they check the dashboard version, but it is possible that Evolution-X dashboard starts the XBE in a slightly different way to the M$ one. I know that this should just be a call to execute the XBE, but you never know what other goodies M$ do.

If the Evolution-X was a reverse engineered version of the M$ then there should be no problems (in theory). Just hope they release another version that addresses this problem.

Can you guys try loading original DVD'z and let me know if they boot? and let me know if it resets on you? It is possible its because the chip is a beta but I just want to get some feedback from other people before I start breaking things

In answer to Drecon when I put a Dvd movie in my Xbox:

    1 EvoX dash
2 goto to the Ms dash
    3 Movie plays

Original and Backup games put directly bypassing the EvoX dash.

It's easy to forget that it's a BETA, isn't it.

Using Homebrew chip (en28f002nt), xtender 1.1 bios

At first, my internet connection was set up for peer to peer, and I had no DHCP server. I added a second NIC and set up Internet Connection Sharing.

Running Evolution X from an unbranded cd-r (using a PC dvd-rom). I have yet to run the Evolution X dashboard from the HDD. I also noticed that when I extracted the files from the .iso, all I got was the "xboxdash.xbe" and the bios .bin files. Where am I to find the Menu.ini file? Should I just create one from notepad or is my image incomplete? Can someone perhaps list what the .iso is supposed to contain?

Otherwise, I am running mame, n64, etc... just fine from the HDD using the "raw command" function in flashfxp, but I would like to be able to execute them from an onscreen menu instead.

The menu.ini file is not in the iso. Its contained in the RAR file. The menu.ini is not NEEDED, but without it you have to execute the games/programs on the HDD when connected to the FTP. When editing the menu.ini file you can simply boot up the good 'ol xbox and select the option from the on screen menu. Just makes life a little easier..

    And thank you jagr
    All is sorted now

Thanks, I re-downloaded it and sure enough it was contained in the .rar file. Sorted out nicely then!

Does anyone know what games work and dont work with EVO and if patches are required. May be useful for members if struggling to get something to work.

Using EvoX 1.8.458 and FlashFXP - did a straight full copy left in the demos (for test purposes).

Didnt bother making iso once on Pc just dropped em on Prassi and off it went. Did Ralli no problems.

    OK, here we go.
I've an XBox chipped with Enigmah final and I'm using EvolutionX 1.8.458.
I just wanted to give some tips for backing up original games.

    a. Always burn at 1x when you make your first backup DVD-R

    b. Don't bother creating ISO or whatever. Just rip the DVD from the XBox to PC by FTP. Delete any exceeding file (i.e. Demo, language files, etc...) or downsample AVIs that don't allow you to backup games like Genma Onimusha. Just drop the files into a data disc on Prassi and hit burn, not hard.

    c. If a burned game seems not to work due to protections do this: hex edit the default.xbe. Use Hex Workshop, pull down the Edit menu and click onto Goto. Select HEX and put in the value 214. Replace the "00200000" with "FFFFFF00". Save the file and burn! It worked so far...

This is a list of backups I succesfully made (all PAL and most are localized in Italian):
    Artic Thunder
    Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter
    Gun Valkyrie
    Cel Damage
    Dead or Alive 3
    FI 2002
    Genma Onimusha
    Rallisport
    Jet Set Radio Future
    Amped
    Splashdown
    Wreckless
    Project Gotham Racing
    Halo

PS: Thank you very much indeed Blockbuster, you know why!

Whats strange is that hex edit is one way to patch the game to work on beta chips the groups use it seems and you say u have a enigma final. So to go further than this .... does the evoultion dashboard makes the chip act like a beta chip.. Interesting.

And DreCom it will work like he said...
