The X-ecuter mod is the KING of all mods. You need absolutly nothing! Everything is there! Anything you can think of it has! And only one wire!!! ***Drooling***

evolution-x is a program you burn to cd, then put in a MODDED xbox, this then lets you connect to your xbox.

and the talk of flashing, you can flash the onboard bios that is already in the xbox now, then when its flashed you dont need the modchip anymore

the xbox bios a chip already soldered on to the xbox motherboard, its memory is rewritable, so its this chip you FLASH, when it is flashed the xbox then thinks it has a modchip fitted, so hence the no need for any mmore modchip

Yes! You will need a mod temporarily to boot from the unsigned code. Then you can flash the onboard BIOS and remove the mod! This is great for ppl like myself who bought the Enigmah originally!

Thanks a lot for every bit of info in here! Really nice work!

But just one little question. Read that one couldn't clone the finished 80 gig xbox-drive to another 80 gig drive. Is this really true? Can't understand that a clone is not a clone, why?

    Best Regards

    woo hoo!!!

flashed my X-Box last night, here is a quick guide as to what i did for those who want to attempt it

i used a UK X-Box with an ST chip in (look on www.xbox-scene.com) for info on how to find which version chip you have got

    1) Installed Modchip (Enigmah Beta - 29 Wires)
    2) Made wires 15 and 21 very long and they ran outside the case
    3) Bridge the 2 sets of T-SOP flash points
    4) Boot the X-Box and make sure it loads copied games
    5) Burn EvolutionX to DVDR
    6) Connect a Cross-over adaptor into the X-Box
    7) Connect a Network cable from the Laptop Ethernet Port to the Cross-over adaptor
    8) Boot up my Laptop running WindowsXP
    9) Install and run FlashFXP on Laptop
    10) Boot EvolutionX on the X-Box
    11) Select the Network Option from EvolutionX (might be under system utils)
    12) Wait for the IP address on EvolutionX to change
    13) When the EvolutionX IP has changed, select quick connect from FlashFXP on the Laptop
    14) Enter the IP address from EvolutionX into the FlashFXP screen
    15) Click Connect
    16) FlashFXP should now connect to the X-Box
    17) You should see several drives listed (C, D, E, etc.)
    18) Select 'C'
    19) Rename the file "XBoxDash.xbe" to "zXBoxDash.xbe" (press F2 to rename)
    20) Go back to the drive listings (up a folder)
    21) Select 'D'
    22) Copy the file "default.xbe" to the Laptop Hard Drive
    23) Go back to the xbox 'C' drive
    24) Copy the file "default.xbe" you just copied to the Laptop Hard Drive to the X-Box 'C' drive
    25) rename the "default.xbe" file to "xboxdash.xbe"
    26) make a new folder on the X-Box hard drive called "roms"
27 Go back to the X-Box 'D' drive and into the "Bios" folder on the EvolutionX disc
    28) Copy all the files in there (should be 4 - all .bin) to the Laptop Hard Drive
    29) Copy the 4 ".bin" files on the laptop hard drive to the "Roms" folder on the X-Box 'C' drive
    30) Remove the EvolutionX disc
    31) Reboot the X-Box
    32) When the X-Box has rebooted go into the Flash Bios Option on EvolutionX (might be under system utils)
    33) Select the Bios Image (i selected Xtender v1.1.bin")
    34) You should know be asked if you are sure you want to flash the Bios (Dont Press anything)
    35) Cut both sets of the wires that we left outside the case (wires 15 and 21)
    36) Now press "Y" on the X-Box controller
    37) A green indicator on the TV screen will go up showing that the bios is flashing
    38) When this is done the X-Box should reset itself
    39) When the X-Box has reset you should be back to the EvolutionX screen
    40) If you are at this screen its worked (because the mods disabled and EvolutionX is un-signed code and should work without a mod)
    41) Turn of the X-Box and take out the X-Box modchip
    42) Either remove the 2 sets of T-SOP bridge points or leave them (i left mine)
    43) Re-assemble the X-Box
    44) Turn the X-Box on (it will load back to EvolutionX)
    45) Select the Network Option from EvolutionX (might be under system utils)
    46) Wait for the IP address on EvolutionX to change
    47) When the EvolutionX IP has changed, select quick connect from FlashFXP on the Laptop
    48) Enter the IP address from EvolutionX into the FlashFXP screen
    49) Click Connect
    50) FlashFXP should now connect to the X-Box
    51) You should see several drives listed (C, D, E, etc.)
    52) Select 'C'
    53) Delete the file "XBoxDash.xbe"
    54) Rename the file "zXBoxDash.xbe" to "XBoxDash.xbe" (press F2 to rename)
    55) Delet the "Roms" folder on the X-Box hard drive
    56) Reset the X-Box and it should go back to the original X-Box dashboard

Congratulations you have just flashed the X-Box Bios - no more modchip

if you need me to clarify any points above just leave a reply and i will try to help as best i can

btw: both me and my friend were very pissed when we attempted this and as such were not at our best - if we can do it like this with the crappy instructions on the net then you should be able to do it sobur using our instructions above.

BTW: Number 54 can be skipped if you want to leave the EvolutionX software on the Hard Drive

    enjoy,

I recently modded my XBox & yesterday got evolutionx running on a CDRW. (TDK I think). I started following directions to back things up & ran into a problem.

FTP seems to be partially implemented in evolutionX. When running many different FTP clients, it kept complaining about not supporting passive-mode. Also, it returned filenames as filnames + permissions + sizes etc. I'm using OSX, so I don't have FlashFXP as an option (unless I revert to using my crappy work laptop - which I was going to try tonight). Are there any special settings I can use to get my FTP clients to understand whatever version of FTP evolutionX supports? I can use command-line just fine, but it is a royal pain in the ass -- and error prone. I'd like to just select everything & back it up, copy it, or whatever.

    Oh... I'm using evolutionx 1.8.458

What are the capacities of the E:\ and F:\ partitions, and are they empty by default? I need to know so I can stick various games/DivX movies on it.
