Nintendo DS Noobie question on DS Lite/Acekard 2

I bought my daughter a pink DS Lite for Christmas, and I've just got an acekard 2 for it with an 8GB sandisk micro SD card. I've chucked the latest firmware on there (4.21) and a bunch of games.

The problem is, I can choose a game from the card and select it, and I get to the game's menu screen OK, but then when I try and actually enter a game it just crashes while it's loading. The same thing has happened on all the games I've tried - am I missing something obvious somewhere along the line, or is this not enough information to be able to tell? Sorry if I'm being dim, but as the title says, I'm a noobie

Have you tried putting the games into a separate 'Games' folder? I've had problems before if I just drop them in the root directory.

You got a smaller, non HC card to try with it? May be a format problem, ie FAT/FAT32.

Has the 8gb memory card got any free space on it? I always try to leave a couple of hundred meg free for saves, etc.

    Hi there,

Yeah the games were in a separate folder, and there were only a handful in there - I think they came to 640MB in total, so there's loads of free space left on the card.

I did wonder about the formatting - it's currently FAT32 - I tried formatting it to FAT16 with the Panasonic thingy but then WinXP wouldn't recognise it.

And no, I haven't got a non HC card to try it with, although I've just noticed the 8GB card isn't sandisk - it hasn't got a brand on it at all, it's the one that came free with my Nokia 5800. I've got a 4GB PNY card on order with play.com, so I'll give that a go when it turns up and hope for the best

Always try the AKAIO firmware instead

Have you tried the HP Format Tool - http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=197

TBH, sounds like either an iffy SD card or Acekard, you seem to have tried most of the obvious solutions.

Tried another card - a PNY 4GB SDHC - same with that. Both the SDHC cards work fine in the PC and my phone - maybe I'll try a smaller (2GB) non-HC card like broona and Fearless suggested

OK - after reading on another forum (can't remember which one) that somebody with the same problem had tried loading up older firmware and fixed it, I tried that. Deleted v4.21 and downloaded v4.07a13 instead - sorted
