    Afterburner - Dimmer Chip Install

I've just done my second Afterburner install, this time on my mates GBA.

He's gone for the Dimmer Chip rather than the Brightness Dial. This means you can press Select then A or B to make the AB brighter or darker. Very cool IMO

This makes the Afterburner install a 9 wire install instead of 2. Luckly the points aren't too small, but the legs of the Dimmer chip are TINY!. The chip itself is about 5-6mm square, with 8 legs in total, each on under 1mm. The points on the Gameboy weren't much better in places, definate need for a magnifying glass.

Well worth the effort tho, it's much nicer than a brightness dial.

    Hi there

I done the same and found it a piece of cake to do the soldering, well i do repairs and some other things to ps2 machines so use to it!! found the hardest thing was putting the film on without too many bubbles, well i only had 2 tiny ones but found that to be the hardest!!
Wish it was all just soldering :-)

    Which chip did you use?

V3 stealth or the FAB chip.

New Stealth chip to be released soon, the FAB is just an updated V3.

Only so much you can do with these, think it will stop at the next Stealth release.

    The choice is yours.

the V3 stealth is the renowned one, goto www.division-6.com

the FAB is a clone of the V3 (the guy who created it has never kept that a secret, he doesnt want to take the glory away from Scott at Division6)

However the new V3.2 is around the corner, so you may want to wait or just put a V3 in for now?
