    Default creatine

Does anyone know what the long term effects of creatine use are? i have found some evidence which links creatine use with kidney problems.
I tend to use it in six to eight week bursts with very intensive training, then a similar amount of time off the creatine with less intensive training. Is this doing any good? or is there a better system?.
    cheers

    Hi mate
Creatine works well for me, i can train harder and for longer with big strength and muscle mass increases, off the creatine i tend to just maintain the muscle and not go for any increases. It does however make me constantly thirsty and urinate like a racehorse, drinking plenty of water helps but this is why i alternate using the stuff.
Anyone use any other supplements?, a few guys at the gym use ephidrine which i thought was illegal??
    cheers

Ephedrine will increase your training stamina by increasing the oxygen intake into your body .
Unfortunately I have found no benefits to taking it and in my opinion it is not a very good method to employ .
I used to take these and found the side effects to be quite harsh . Loss of sleep and appetite been the major ones i experienced . I never had a problem with creatine though , and found it to be beneficial when taken in moderation .

I found liquid creatine much much more effective.
    http://www.creatine.com/uk/languages..._english.shtml

Its a bit more expensive, but you don't have to pre-load vefore training, like you do with powder, and you also don't have to have a week off for every 3 on.

Simply take a teaspoon full 10 mins before your workout, and thats that! Oh the raspberry flavour is well tasty

I found that ephedrine is one of those substances that work with some and not with others, as ephedrine works in a way to increase your oxygen intake which then speeds up your heart beat but it had no effect on me than make me breathe quicker but a friend of mine felt that it did do him some good.

OK basically what creatine does is gives you more energy for workouts, and increases the rate at which your body can create muscle.

    Check out the FAQ

Google will also bring back tonnes of sites related to this.

neither of them are essential when it comes down to it, if your determined enough you don't need to be aided with substances.

This depends on what you want from the gym and how you want to look, unfortanately determination might not take you as far as you want to go (and depends on how quick you wanna get there).

Make sure you let your muscles fully recover and stop hurting before you train on them again, as if you train whilst they are still repairing themselves, you will do yourself damage.

If you want to get bigger, start using protein shakes, as most of the protein that you get from meat and fish is crapped out by your body as well.

You were aching because this was your first week at the gym, your doing something that your body isn't used to, believe me my friend you haven't done heavy yet its just that you've come in while were in the middle of our new workout routine which is a lot more intense than the standard type of workout of doing 3 x 10 reps per exercise.

As you have only just started, you would be best to start on a good protein drink, this will also speed up your recovery rate.

Guns, I found the best way to build muscle was to triangulate my reps.. e.g. for bench press

    12 x 40Kg (Warm Up)
    2 min break
    10 x 60Kg (Fairly Easy)
    2 min break
    8 x 70Kg (Getting hard now)
    2 min break
    6 x 80Kg (argh this is hard)
no break for this last one
12 x 20Kg (this is the hardest set)

Whats your opinion on training like this? Any Pro's and Con's you can see? Or different techniques that I should try??

    15 x warmup
    08 x heavy weight
    10 x medium weight
    15 x light weight

we do it like this i think, no breaks until you have finished the set off/

WTD,I found this to be a good routine as i did very similar for quite a while, started with 20 x 40Kg for the warm up but not the 12 x 20Kg at the end, which has got to hurt?
But as you probably already know be sure to swap around the routines your using to keep getting the benefits.
I am currently using a new routine which has to be the most effective ive ever tried, heres an example for bench press :-

Start of with doing a warm up of 25 to 30 reps with maybe 5 to 10Kg on each side (depending on your size and strength)
    2 min break
    8 x 60kg
    No Break
15 x 30kg (Half the weight and double the reps from the 1st set)
    No Break
25 x 10/15Kg (if you can do these without struggling then your first two sets are not heavy enough)

and as there are no breaks you will find that your doing your routines a lot quicker without losing out.

All other exercises work in the same way, if your interested then i can email you a copy of the workout to ya?
