If you're going for a cheap one then it may actually be disadvantageous to you.

Some TVs handle SD better through component/scart rather than through HDMI. HDMI is just a digital signal so will not necessarily improve the quality of what you are sending, an upscaling freeview box is required for that.

An example would be I have the Panasonic P50V10, widely classed as the best Plasma (apart from a Kuro of course!). However it handles SD better over scart/component than it does over HDMI.

So you might as well save the tenner or more and get a normal box, or spend more and get an upscaling box

You don't need a top notch hdmi cable , one for a fiver should do as the signal is digital not analogue , you will actually get a sd signal that has been upscaled , you will not got HD .For HD you need to get skyHD / HD capable freesat box or a freeview box that will recieve a HD signal ( if your area is broadcasting it) - I don't think any of these are being sold yet though they should be shortly , see here http://www.humaxdigital.com/uk/produ...l_hdfoxt2.aspx

If you have built in freeview then there is no point buying an external freeview box unless you want some additional features like on demand services etc. As said above, other than build quality don't go for an overpriced cables. I spend £15 max on my cables, I only spend this much for the build quality and shielding, a £5 cable will provide the same quality transmission.
