It would appear that some local authorities are being overrun with discarded televisions.
This has been put down to the digital switchover, which is working its way around the UK until the whole process is completed in 2012.
According to some local authorities, it looks as if many consumers believe that in order for them to receive the digital television signal their old TV set is going to have to be replaced, which of course is not true.
If this is the case and consumers are buying new televisions simply because of the digital switchover, then it means that the message has not got through and the money set aside to educate the consumer about digital television has been almost a complete waste of cash.
