Default Are Liverpool the new Newcastle?

You know me, I'm not one to try & cause a controversy BUT...

I hope Rafa's got a decent pen, not that I'd want to stereotype the good folk of Liverpool but he's defo' going to be joining you lot & signing on soon.

What is it, is red the new(castle) black (& white)?

    One can only dream!

You know I was just thinking, times as a United fan aren't overly rosy at the moment, what with all the financial woe, performances on the pitch, but I look at our three major HISTORICAL rivals - one is in League 1 (Leeds), City haven't won anything for about 100 years, and Liverpool are having their worst season in my living memory. Life really isn't THAT bad!

As a Toon fan - I really don't care who gets our spot in the Championship next season - as long as we get back up where we belong.

(IMHO) It would be probably be good for football in general though if more big clubs screwed up and found themselves relegated, either through crap management/football (Liverpool) or crap financial management (Man Utd) - that might put the brakes on the ridiculous prices for players/wages/tickets etc. and try and stop the get rich quick merchants like Mike Ashley/The Glazers/The Hicks/Arab Sheikhs and so on from wrecking the game completely.

Pipe Dream - very probably but you never know

Agreed, ive always thought this for years, I actually think it wont be a big name, depending on who owns the club by then that is, I reckon it will be a very experienced number 2 that Fergie chooses to train up so to speak.

why sack fergie? cos we're having a bad run and no defence?

fergie will have to try and cope with the defensive problems, whilst also trying to convice and encourage the team to play without the need for ronnie or tevez (who both wanted out regardless).

It's just a blip, and I am conviced that soon we will get the defence back, and go on a good run.. If I am wrong then, we might end up not winning the league again, for a couple of seasons until fergie can inject some world class players. Mourinio is not the answer right now, only when the time is right.

We've been in this situation, time and time again.

I'm not worried about Mourinio joining Liverpool (not at least initially). I'm worried about another arab consortium investing 500 billion into Liverpool, and buying out the american chumps. Surely we would want that to happen to us, so we can get rid of this debt? it makes me sick that all our profits are getting eaten up into other banks profits.

Or because the young generation he has paid millions for, was surposed to replace his old generation??

    recent buys/young= rafeal, fabio,tosic,gibson,macheda,anderson,nani, evans, M.owen, wellbeck,berbatov etc... =future/transfers.

old buys/old men= giggs, scholes, neville, evra, van der sar, rio, brown, rooney, vidic etc = keeping team afloat = past transfers= fergie is over the hill

Because you mancs are deluded with owen i stuck him with the young crowd.

    Future= Owen 0m, valencia 12m.... Couldn't afford tevez 25m

So Rafa cared so little he said he wanted to win it, and put Gerrard and Torres out, right??!?

Liverpool won't be the next Newcastle - if they go down, they're much more likely to be the next Leeds - properly implode.
Newcastle held it together, and are currently on their way to winning the Championship comfortably.
Oh, and are still in the FA Cup...

You know, I keep trying to give you the benefit of the doubt, but listing this lot as potential transers is just ridiculous. Yes of course, some are, and some sooner rather than later - Berbatov and Nani for a start, Tosic has done nothing. But lets look at some of the others.

Fabio - almost definitely the more skilled of the twins, trouble is he has Evra standing in front of him, and Evra would definitely at least contend for the position of best left back currently playing. Fabio is also only 18.

Gibson - fantastic shot, already scored some really good goals. Plenty more than Lucas, and in a lot less pitch time. Bear in mind last season was his breakthrough into the first team. He may not make it, but he cost nothing, and you never know. I'd rather see him starting for United than Lucas.

Macheda. Another 18 year old. Remember, 18 is very, very young, not everyone can make an impact at that age like Owen and Rooney have done. Two of the goals he scored last year were absolutely vital for us. Will he make it? Who knows, but at 18 the world is in front of him and he looks and excellent prospect.

Anderson. Again, another very young player, only 21 (younger than Lucas). This season in some games he has looked like the best player on the pitch (well, in a United shirt). He has the potential IMO to be the United engine for many years, he just needs to add a little more composure in front of goal.

Evans. LMAO! Come on! The guy is probably - along with Pique - the most promising young central defender in Europe! He only turned 22 last week, which even you must recognise is very young for a central defender! This guy will be a rock in United's defence for many, many years, alongside his younger brother I reckon!

Welbeck - well I have to admit the jury for me is out with young Danny, and I suspect you may get to see him leave the club. He's every bit as good as Ngog though!
