    Help Recovered files

My brother in law deleted his profile and all his files from his PC (win XP).
we have attempted to restore the files using 'recuva'. however none of the restored files are usable, whilst they have the correct extension .doc .mp3 .jpg etc. we are unable to open any of them. Is there anything we do or any software we can use to recover the situation.

    Cheers in advance

When I used recuva I had to put the files on a different drive (usb/memory stick etc) to be able to open them, something to do with keeping your system stable

    Worth a try

Alternatively try using Getdataback, it was recommended to me on here. Make sure you use the correct version for your file system (NTFS or FAT).

You do need to stop using the PC as soon as you have discovered you have deleted the files or it will reuse the space and they will be corrupted

    yup
pull the hdd out and recover it from another pc or as a secondary drive.
the more you use it as a primary drive the more data that gets written over
