Can u rewire speakers? Help plz!!

    i've got some sony speakers.
not too sure on model no. but they are old.
they actually some pretty good but they don't have the choice of using u're own speaker cables. u have to use theirs!

now i plan to use these spkers for rear speakers in cinema amp. if the wires aren't long enuff would it be possible to open up the back and well remove the old wires and put some of my own new wires in instead??

if not what about cutting the old wires near the speaker then joining it to my new wires. would they sound shit or what??

    much help appreciated!!

No they wouldnt sound shit - they wouldnt sound as good as if you were to open them up and re-solder a new cable on but the difference would be negligable - Just make sure that u get the positive and negative wires the right way round.

An easy job - go for it

    Hi,
If you open them up to change the wire just make sure you seal them air tight again. That's easy just seal any gaps with silicone sealant (like you put round the edge of your bath).
Also use the best quality cable you can afford/fit. Don't go mad. upto £1 a meter should do it. Don't go to currys or any of those twats. Find a Maplin's or decent local electronics shop.

cam, what do mean by a good connection??

i believe it is if i open it up and re-solder right??

prob gonna cut them near the speaker and refix new ones on. should i solder the connection or just twiddle them together and use some insulation tape??

    cheers all

Just cut the wire and rejoin them using a block connecter and wrap it with some insulation tape.

    Thats the quickest way.
