X-box stupid question

Hey,

I am a sony user getting ready to experience the Xbox (gonna buy for xmas).

Can the Xbox play all my divx movies, I know I have to get a chip (the one I have in mind is the MAtrix chip when its released)

Just wanted to know if I can play all my movies on it i.e divx, avi, vcd etc...

youl actually have to look at the specs of the peticular chip you want to get..
but if it says it plays divx, etc.... then most likly it will

Huh? I had no idea that the chip mattered at all when it came to playing Divx/SVCD/MP3s.

All chips that I am aware of will run Evox dashboard. Then you can install XBox Media Player and that will play all your media. I have about 5 gigs of MP3's on my XBox hard drive to play, I just wish they would add a playlist to the software. Anyway, I tested a few Divx movies and they all worked fine. I have used X-Ecuter and OpenBox/PCBiox with Evox 2.4 and both play them fine.

is it poss to install media player, then play divx movies off cd ?

Does it make a difference if I use cdr or cdrw

u need to use CD-rw or dvd-r/rw/+r

there is no REAL known CDr brand that actually works unless you use your own DVD-rom drive or tweak your laser but that decreases its life
