    Default Need help finding the right chip for homebrew

    I have found a store that sells parts. I was looking thru their IC chips but have no idea what to buy. Can someone look thru this pdf and tell me what chip is best for modchip purpose.

    i'm too lazy to read that thing, but I'll tell you about a few things that you should look for.
    Get either DIP (sometimes called DIL) or PLC (depending on your programmer)
    get -90 (90 ns timing), these seem to be the best (not too slow or power intensive).
    29F or 29C (I don't know what the difference is, but there is a difference) should be the easiest to program. 29's are flash memory while 27's are eeproms. Eeproms are usually a bitch to program, and they're only like a dollar or two cheaper (not worth it if only buying a few).
    get the 040 or 020. They are the 4 megabit and 2 megabit sizes.

    so the name should be like 29F040-90 with a DIP or PLC packaging..

    oh and make sure it's 5V (4.5V-5.5V)

    Its weird cause I have a 29EE020 chip right now, but i can't flash it. You said it should be a flashrom, but i think its a eprom so i can't flash w/ my mobo. Anyways thanks a lot. U helped a lot
