    Default NTFS to FAT32

Ok, I have got a 500gb External HDD and have slplit it in 2

    1x250gb NTFS
    1x250gb FAT32

Problem is i cannot transfer files from the NTFS partition to the FAT32 partition, i think it might be due to my OS being on NTFS

I just get a Disk Cleanup Popup

The same when i try to transfer from my laptop (NTFS) to my FAT32 partition on external, any work arounds?? searched google and cannot find anything

    Cheers

    Got this from another forum.

For those of you who have attempted this and are pulling your hair out, I have done so successfully using Partition Magic 7.01 without any data loss.
First, back up,then run PM and choose convert. If the option to convert is grayed out, you need to create free space on your hard disk. This gives PM the room to do the job. I created 25% free space, rebooted and the Convert NTFS to FAT32 button was enabled.
Then do it. Repeat, back up first. More than likely you will get a sparse . Do a search on the PM site and it will tell you how to fix this by uncompressing all files on your drive. Whether you've enabled compression or not, NTFS compresses some and you can't convert to FAT 32 unless you uncompress.
Try again. It should work. You may get another error. I had a file with two hard links I had to fix. The PM site had a fix for that too. Then try again. I had success with no data loss. Good luck

Or you cold convert the FAT32 to a NTFS useing the convert command in a DOS window. You will not loose any data

If I have read this correctly you are trying to copy files between the partition, not convert the NTFS partition to FAT32 partition?
If so are the files you are trying to copy under 4GB in size?

Found this out on google that files < 4GB works but my problem is they are 4.3gb (Wii Games).

Sorted now tho just used 2nd partition instead and moved files that were on 2nd partition to first partition.

    Thanks anyway K+

FAT32 cannot store 4GB+ file size that is what was causing the problem...
