Can I log what my router is doing ?

hi all
over last few months i've been having trouble with my router (netgear 834gt)
it is normally in the daytime and early evening that these probelms occur, arrive about 10 pm until about 9.00am seems ok
here is probelm
click internet icon, it may log on to the internet or may not, if it does not log on, i try again, and again until it logs on, the same when going to different sites,
it may log on stright away or take a few times to log on to a site

what i want to do is have a log running to try to see if its a router problem or a line probelm
so is there anyway i can log what is happening ?

it may be possible using syslog though i don't thing it will output anything useful

i would try using a differnt dns server try google or open dns - if your are on o2 then there is a fix for loss of routing problems.
