    Default cpu safe temps

I guess it probably varies from cpu to cpu but what temp should a celeron 1GHz run at?

Well there's no set temperature for a CPU to run at, they all vary according to make, speed and is very much dependant on the current conditions.

If you have average cooling in your system i.e. CPU fan and at least one other fan I'd expect anywhere from 30-40C, since it's a Celeron probably lower 30s.

Most CPUs are designed to operate into the 90s (tho' it's not advisable ), but many will stay stable into the 60s and 70s (Athlons that is, Intels shouldn't be getting that hot).

Yep sure, you could try MbProbe or MBM5. Both should work fine under most OS and give you various temps and other readings.

nah Violator u should expect that from a celeron. well what I say and many other people will agree ANYTHING below 60 deg C is an OK temp! temps between 30-40 deg C are pretty nice temps too and yes i agree temps between here air cooled are good. Temps between 40 - 60 are about average.

Only if you've got really poor cooling or have botched the heatsink. An Intel chip usually runs reasonably cool (a good bit cooler than an AMD) and that's why I suggested the temp (in particular look at the speed of it, not that fast).

Plus if we get into AMD territory, 40-60 is not always good, I've seen some AMD chips get really unstable above 45.

Erm... Cam not recommended at all. I got a 1.2Gh aMD running on another machine with a standard silver mountain 2 heatsink and a denki fan at 29.5 deg C pretty sweet if u ask me. Heatsink n fan only cost my £16.50

i think all the talk about temps and cooling has got people more worried about there temps. I mean people who dont know about overclocking dont care about temps at all as long as there machine works
