well, firstly you need sh!tloads of cash and a very generous backer, then you need to formulate some policies that people will support, but that the newspapers cant hound you out of existence for, then you need some candidates (check em out as if you get anywhere they will have a microscope shoved up their arses by tonys' boys and you wouldnt want to find out that one was a member of some radical student group 30 years ago) then you need to target the areas you want to win seats in, if the main thrust of you party is anti immigrant or anti moslem then you would target the seats aroound the moslem areas targeting the moslem areas directly would be a costly mistake because you could never win against the moslem block vote. then read very carefully the rules on party finance (remember you must declare any donation over £5000) you may also want to register your part as a charity, which gives you certain fundraising abilities. now you need to get seen so its time to take your prospective candidates off around the schools and nursing homes (you know the stuff, crime and nhs and social services with the old folks and education, safety and social security with the schoolchildren and their parents) make sure you get lots of photos (call the press and pay all their expenses it helps, dont forget a decent meal afterwards for the journos, they like that), get yourself and as many of your candidates onto local committees, pta's, local community groups, boards of governors at schools etc (it looks good on election leaflets and makes people think you give a shit about them) now that the locals know what you claim to stand for and know your and your prospective candidates faces you can make an appeal for membership to do this just get off your arse and deliver a breif message and a membership request form to every local address (should take a few of you about 5 days to do one council ward) then place a similar ad in the local paper.

Now you have your fledgeling party and a few members invite them to a meeting where they can meet their local candidates and the party leader (you) at this meeting whip them into a frenzy and announce that your part intends to stand at the next elections and that you need their support. (you already have it anyway), you could also arrange to hold a rally at a local meeting place popular with manyof the local 17-20 year olds as these are trhe ones who rarely vote but could support something new and more them than the traditional parties (again invite the press, but dont make an idiot of yourself tring to be trendy yourself).

now comes the hard part.... when the elections are called you should already be prepared to roll, you will need election leaflets for the local elections but you have a very limited budget, you need to get to your local election office, pay your candidates fees and collect the registration forms, these forms require 10 signatures from 10 registered voters who confirm that they will vote for you, check each name against the electorial role in each ward to be sure (its best to get 20 per candidate as its not unknown for someone to sign the forms for two parties thereby cancelling whichever person hands in their forms second) as soon as these forms are filled in get them back to the electoral office and get them confirmed. Now get a decent photo of each candidate along with a short (4 paras max) statement off to all your local papers (in fairness they publish one of these for each candidate, but if you provide them it looks more professional and the editor has less work to do to get one)

Now those pesky election leaflets, unless you are a lib/dem the chances are that this will be the only time you have any contact with the general electorate, make sure they are a4 size and 3 way fold (so people can display them in their cars/windows with just the candidates surname and the party name and symbol visable) right on one side of the paper you have 3 sections the front must show the candidates pic, name, party name and symbol along with your chosen election "tag line" the middle section will be sideways for display (see above) the back should have a profile on your candidate and a statement on local issues along with the publishers and party agents info in tiny print (printed and published by the worzel party of YOUR ADDY), now this is the clever bit ALTHOUGH there is a limit on what you can spend on election communications, if your "national" party spends its own money on one side of the leaflet then only the local side counts as an election expense as long as the national side doesnt connect itself with local issues or candidates (it also saves you money as every candidate has the same thing printed on one side of your leaflet).

now is the time to send out those leaflets, press the flesh, get as much press as you can, get the candidates out knocking on doors from 9am till 8pm every day (the whole campaign will only last 4 weeks max) if your candidates cant get all that time off then get party helpers (must be unpaid) to do the knocking and book appointments to meet the candidate (only a few people will but make sure some heavys go with them in case of trouble, keep the press away in case of an unfortunate incident during these visits) now on the eve of election you need to go planting, small a3 sized posters bearing the same info as the little window posters pasted to small wooden boards and nailed to wooden stakes or with holes to tie string through. at around 9pm get teams out placing them on verge sides, lamp posts and available land, ask your supporters to place them in any available place thats visable from the roadside (but not nailed to trees as thats illegal) if you happen to knock down a few of the oppositions posters dont worry, they will have people out doing it to yours upto about midnight, keep your candidate free to go out with a pa system asking people to vote for him untill about 7pm around the estates where you have a chance of getting votes.

election day.... 5am get things started, check your posters are still up, get tellers to the poling stations (again cherry pick polling stations where you think you have a chance,) a teller dresses smartly but not threateningly, and stands outside a polling station with an electoral list for that station, as people arrive as to see their polling cards and check them off your list, you could also ask if they intend to vote for you but many will lie. make sure your tellers get changed at regular intervals as this allows them to do other things too, at around 6pm collect the lists from the tellers and compare them to notes taken during canvasing about voting intentions, if you find any missing people send someone in a car to their hous saying that you noticed they hadnt voted and would they like a lift to the polling station. at about this time you can also let your candidate out of the pa car to go home and eat, get a showe and get changed then its time to get ready for the count.....

At the count you should give out every ticket you can get and make sure those who have them attend, they dont do much, but at least you get a decent cheer when the results are given (of course candidates are told a few moments before the announcement is made, if its realy close (within 15 votes) ask for a recount and try to claim any spoilt papers that might have voted for you, every vote helps) now its time to see how you did, if you dont win dont be disheartened there are other elections in 12 months etc.

After election day, collect all the poster boards you can it stops litter and saves you money next year, get your election expenses signed and back to the returning officer (he can also sign them if you dont have a pet jp) organise a dinner to say thank you to all your candidates and all the people who have helped you out (that way they'll do it all again next year) and then start planning to see what you did wrong this time so that you do better next time.

its also worth looking at the candidates you are standing against too... no point in standing against a labour candidate who gets more votes than everyone else put together and has been a councillor for the last 30 years, dont stand in areas where you have no chance of winning, only the big national parties (and the bnp) do that

Above all enjoy yourselves, it can be a wonderful experience and even if you get trashed at the polls at least people have heard your message and it looks good on your c.v. too.

If by some miracle you win, post here and i'll fill in what you ned to do then

I don't know how serious u r wonky m8, but abcman and myself have kinda discussed this before and I'm up for it, only thing is I couldn't take a front line role because of previous embarrasing and niave affliations to certains groups that I wouldn't like to mention here.

But I do feel there is room for another political party in Britain, especially as the 3 main parties policies are almost identical and they all seem to be coveting the middle ground.

We need a party that will listen to the common man, and encourage him to speak his thoughts about asylum seekers/immigration without the fear of being branded a racist or bigot. We need a party that will put British citizens first and deal with the tide of scum hitting these shores in the way they deserve. We need a party that will end all entry to asylum seekers now. We need a party that from now on insists on integration in schools, communities and workplaces. No more special schools for hindu's, moslems or any other religion apart from christianity, we've had enough segregation, thats why Bradford, Oldham etc are like they are. If a person chooses to live in Britain then they must embrace our culture and integrate into our society. The speaking of english to a certain standard should be compulsory for all new immigration applicants and tough new immigration laws should be introduced to limit the number of immigrants to people who are going to benefit or at least contribute to our economy.

Of course, as abcman rightly points out, we'll also need policies on health, education etc. etc. before you can build a manifesto.

But the one thing I think more than anything you need to get across is that the black and asain british citizens have nothing to fear from this party, in fact, by encouraging integration we are welcoming them into our society. They are a part of Britain and we want them to remain so, but they must accept that integration is the only way forward and that the provision for special ethnic schools, religious centres etc will stop as these incourage segregation.

I'm serious about this as i know ABCMan is, as I said i couldn't take a front line role but I would be happy to do background stuff such as research, policy building etc.

If any others like the sound of what i've said and think the people of Britain deserve a better future then say so and if we get enough people supporting it on the forum and enough people willing to help out we could start something rolling.

Personally I'm undecided on the Euroland Issue, do we tie ourselves to the Eurpoean Union economically and socially and pray we get to keep soverinity or do we economically tie ourselves to the US and risk the wrath of the European Union.

It's a difficult 1, but I gotta say that from what i believe we put far more into the European Union than we get out, where as countries such as Spain and Portugal get far more out in the way of subsidies and shite than they put in.

If a party ignores big business and opts to keep the pound then it could be shoting itself in the foot, then again I'm all for taking power back from the global corporations, although that is pie in the sky at the moment especially with a Republican in the White House.

I dunno where people stand on defence, tax reform, the welfare state etc. I'm afraid when it comes to taxes I'm in favour of high taxation and more public services as this is the only way to properly look after your citizens. This also helps to bridge the gap between rich and poor.

Regarding defence, I still believe in having a very strong armed forces, especially strong Counter-Terrorism units. On Law and order, I'm all for tough policing especially on crimes involving violence, particulary the use of violence against children or the elderly.

These are just some of my thoughts, please post your own and see how differing our views are.

taxes - i'm for lowest possible direct taxation with a more pay to play attitude for example - scrap the road fund licence and add tax to petrol that way those who use the roads most pay for them most, drop the tv tax, its a real multi channel world out there so shouldnt the bbc be part of it after all its biased and it makes programs that are just as commercial as any other channel.

health - encourage more use of private healthcare, it reduces nhs costs, but to counter that all doctors/surgeons would have to quota their time fairly between the 2 (to help repay the costs of training), free medical/home/nursing/residental care for the elderly

education - re introduce the grammer school system (it worked well), encourage private education (again saves state money and it works), re-introduce corporal punishment into schools, encourage competative inter school sports competition.

law and order - (the hardest nut to crack) well, introduce a true zero tollerence policy on all anti social behaviour, stop treating drug abusers as victims, sort out sentencing policy so that someone with 3 copies of a move doesnt get 5 months, and someone who robs your property gets away with it, introduce a law allowing the use of any reasonable force to defend your own property (hammers, baseball bats etc).

Asylum seekers - give them nothing except a roof over their heads and basic rations in exchange for doing menial jobs like keeping britain tidy untill they are processed with automatic deportation if they commit ANY offence whilst awaiting a decision on their case.

Local laws - any new road (except motorways) must have a useable cycle path for pedal and sub 50cc bikes, ensure councils enforce planning laws rather than allowing certain people to bespoil our landscape, automatic confiscation of any vehicle producing a loud noise, if its so loud you can hear it outside how can the occupants be expected to hear a motorists horn or even a warning siren. removal of all "speed bumps" as they encourage pollution and noicse as cars accelerate between them + damage to cars to be replaced with cameras or chicanes where realy needed.

Drugs - cannabis = legal (and taxed) at 18, other drugs or selling/suplying to under 18's = time inside, those caught using addictive drugs (heroin/crack) to spend their time in total isolation to give them chance to kick their habbit.

DNA = upon conviction for any imprisonable offence dna to be stored on a national computer record, automatic, verifyable destruction of any other dna samples given.

tobacco and alchaol = more rigid enforcement of current alchol and tobacco laws with responsibility placed on shopkeepers to check any unknown persons identity prior to purchase, nhs assistance to give up if requested.

Identity cards = mandatory, no services available without production of id card, no nhs, no education, no employment, no social security. automatic imprisonment for failing to carry your id card.

other - rip off britain has to stop, so punative fines against any company charging higher uk costs than those available elsewhere, married to a reduction in duty to bring certain goods into line with regional prices, compulsion of all car manufacturers to fit working safety and security measures to all their cars.

Death penalty = no (sorry but cant risk the innocent)

I have no idea how much it would all cost, savings could be made to the education and health service by encouraging those who can afford to go private, by reducing the number of nhs managers and red tape, savings would also be made long term by having less smoking related and violence related medical treatment needed, savings would be made to social provision by preventing those with no right to it from recieving it and national id cards would reduce benefit fraud to almost zero, putting more police out of their cars and onto the beat would save on vehicle budgets to pay for more officers. i'm sure it could be balenced if we tried hard enough.

Christ, ABCMan, i don't think we agree on anything apart from legalisation of cannabis. Personally i'd legalise the lot and stop criminalising people for being addicted to an evil substance such as heroin, that way tax from the legal sale can be plowed into prevention thru education and cure thru treatment.

I certainly wouldn't encourage private health care as it only promotes a have/have not society which only robs people in low income families of hope and introduces despair. But I would like to see a crack down on dole cheats, scoungers and general lay abouts. Stop incentives for single parent families on benefit, penalise single mothers for additional children they bring into the world and promote the traditional 2 parent family.

Identity cards I'm not sure on, the implications for Goverment interferance in our lives is a great risk, whereas I can see the benefits in the case of immigration, crime etc.

I agree with your points too on rip off Britain, but I'd also like to see more control on how the supermarket cartels control pricing and production of goods from farmers in this country. I'd also like to see less superstores with concentration on reinvestment in Town high streets and encouraging traditional ways of producing goods such as food etc. Then encourage the population to be prepared to spend a little more on quality traditional food produced in a tradtional manner that has taste, and encourage people to eat less. So the quality would improve considerably, we'd spend a bit more per item but by consuming less we would be doing not only our pockets a favour but also our health.

Not much common ground there I'm afraid, you are way too far to the right and I don't think the ideas on private health care, or private education would appeal to the ordinary working class man, who i feel we should be aiming at.

whilst left and right will never meet on somethings, think of the benefits, with private education in place those who can afford to pay for their childrens education will do so thus freeing up a lot of money for the state education system (ie not having to pay to educate the children of the rich) with the huge success of grammer schools (or at least those few we still have) we have in place a school system that those from poorer families can aspire to simply through aplication and hard work (traditional working class values) the grammer schools would be free and provide an education every bit as good as that provided in the private sector, the same in the health service, by making those who can afford to pay go private it is freeing up recources in the nhs and by making a quota system for all doctors and surgeons they could make their extra cash doing private operations but still be forced to carry out nhs operations, thus stopping them from leaving the nhs altogether at great cost to the nhs in their training.

its true that we dont agree on much politicaly, but isnt that the essence of politics, as stated earlier all the main parties are aiming for the middle ground, the reason for this is that the british people are in the middle ground, the left has consistantly proved that its policies fail, the right cant get elected because it is always portrayed as extremist, but we need something radical, a different approach, my suggestion does give the rich what they want (private) but it also gives the poor a better chance too as letting the rich have their way frees up money to spend in the public sector so in effect it is doing what you want just in a new and different way, i'd agree with you on the single mothers and promoting family life, even though i'm a single parent, i would go one stage further and means test child benefit to target it at the poor so those on middle income and above would not recieve it after all what is £15.50 a week to someone on £30,000 a year, absolutly nothing.

There is more common gound than you think between left and right, it just need phrasing correctly to the target audience.

this way like in holland you get the support of the workers (being helped out with extra money for services they need) and you help the rich (by giving them their private healthcare & education, on which they pay taxes too) its a win win situation, both sides feel they are getting what they want whilst screwing the other which makes them both happy and most importantly this country gets what it wants, better education for those who are prepared to get on with it at school rather than pissing around whatever background they come from.

On drugs i dont think legalisation would be a solution (excepting cannabis in this) the best education is to prevent it, stringnt measures for even posession would help, but nothing would beat enforced cold turkey to concentrate the minds of those wanting to get back on it, it wouldnt matter if heroin was legal or not, untill you dragged the smackheads off the street and put them through cold turkey each one would continue to be a mini crimewave, again its down to quality of life, pulling smackheads off the streets and locking them up would make the voters feel better and safer, you could never convince either the poor whos estates are blighted by heroin and crack or the rich whos homes and safety is at risk from these people that anything other than removing them from society untill they are cleaned up. and again put it in cost terms, a clean human being can work productively and not only produce benefit free income for themselves and their family but also revenue in taxes for the exchequer, a smackhed does nothing but cost money, not only in benefits and "treatment" programs, but in wasted court time (they are poor victims so they arent punished) and all the police man hours wasted chasing up all the burglaries and robberies these people cause, then you have the increased insurance costs to repair the damage they cause to your property and the cost of replacing all the stuff they steal to raise money to pay fo their habbits. again locking them away till they are clean is politicaly a win win situation and this is politics we are talking about here, you wont get votes by appearing to support smackheads from any target group.

Before anyone complains that i'm being nasty here to smackheads, i am and they deserve it, one of my kids lost his mother to it last year, if she'd been locked away and forceably cleaned up then maybe just maybe, she'd not only be alive, but she may have had a job and be paying to look after her own child instead of the state paying to look after him, that would not only have saved the economy money, but might have left a young child still having his mother.

you see cj there is more we can agree on than disagree on, if you think about things in terms of politics (which is what your opposition do)

    @ABCman

i agree on some of your points but not others.

lowest possible taxation yes - but not add MORE to petrol tax! We already pay the most in the world for our petrol - why should we have to pay more?

education yes, agree with u totally - reintroduce the 11plus nationwide.

law and order - yes, good ideas. also introduce mandatory coporal punishment for anyone caught stealing, graffiti, mugging.

Asylum seekers : a COMPLETE ban on any more immigrants entering this country.

Identity cards gotta disagree with u there. Why should decent, law-abiding citizens have to carry ID cards? The only people who should be forced to carry them are people with criminal records and asylum seekers.

Also quit the EU, re-establish national soverignty etc.

Sort out the BBC - i know it sounds petty but get rid of all the politically correct crap - bring back the globe before programmes instead of all this dancing yobs shit.

its been said many times before, but there are pros and cons with everything like that, it depends on how you sell it, with an id card you would have a birth cert, a driving licence, your medical records, criminal records, social security details all in one place at one time and as has also been said before the only people who have anything to fear from an id card scheme are those who are doing something wrong, think of the savings.... no social, no housing benefits, no tax avoidence, no nhs expenses, no education expenses all that extra money for the exchequer and the best reason of all for all the scum not to try to come here in the first place, on other immigration it would be harder but a zero immigration policy would help this country in the short term however i would prefer a no use immigration policy where those who had something to offer our country could still come. if marrages need to be arranged overseas then by all means allow the person from this country emigrate to the country of his spouse instead of having both of them here, that and their associated families would take a HUGE chunk out of the immigration numbers.
