    OK, so whats the best way to help prevent these attacks causing any downtime or harm to your server?

    Software and hardware solutions please.

    Run a Linux server

    Run a redhat 7.3 install

    install webmin for remote management etc

    yeah... Linux redhat 7.2 installed with Webmin, but I still had a DOS attack m8

    firewall config. maybe

    do not allow people to ping the box
