hhhhhmmmm interesting.......seems like Keane hasnt signed yet, and spurs aer after him AND Morientes. very strange. 6M for Keane is a bit extautionate though i think.

Spurs are setting up a double swoop for Real Madrid star Fernando Morientes and Leeds' Robbie Keane, according to reports.
Reports in Friday's press suggest that boss Glenn Hoddle will look to tie up the £12m signing of Morientes and the £6m acquisition of Keane, with Darren Anderton reportedly moving in the opposite direction as part of the deal, before Saturday's transfer deadline.
The arrival of one or even both would be a major coup for Hoddle after a summer of frustration which has seen the White Hart Lane chief linked with all and sundry in his attempts to add a proven international goalscorer to his ranks.
Only recently, an £8m bid for Chelsea's Eidur Gudjohnssen was rebuffed by the Stamford Bridge outfit, while the club have also been linked with Sunderland's Kevin Phillips, Lazio star Hernan Crespo, Bolton's Michael Ricketts - as well as being turned down by Brazil star Rivaldo, who opted to join AC Milan instead.
Morientes is expected to be snapped up on a £40,000-a-week, after tax, deal with £12m up front and a further £2m if Spurs qualify for Europe next season.
Keane, meanwhile, has been told he is surplus to requirements at Elland Road and is looking for a move to secure regular first-team football - something he would be guaranteed at White Hart Lane.

seems u were ahead of sky sports in this one ABC

to save you erading - here is the important part of the article

The figure represents a £6million loss on the striker who joined Leeds for £13million from Inter Milan in December 2000.

seems your lot havent got the buisness acumen you thought you had eh lads!!

KEANE SET FOR £7MILLION SPURS MOVE

Leeds striker Robbie Keane is poised to beat Saturday's newly-imposed transfer deadline by signing for Spurs in a cut-price £7million deal.

Keane expressed his bitter frustration at starting this season on the bench, despite the summer arrival of new boss Terry Venables.

The 22-year-old had been hoping that following his superb performances for the Republic of Ireland during the World Cup he would be given the nod for a starting place by Venables.

But despite the change of face, the story remained the same for Keane as he was subjected to bench duties for the majority of the second half of last season under former manager David O'Leary.

Despite scoring as a substitute in the 3-0 opening day victory at home to Manchester City, Keane could not see his situation improving and so publicly voiced his concerns.

Spurs have managed to knock Leeds down from their original £9million asking price, a sum which was agreed with Sunderland during the close season, only for Keane to reject the Black Cats.

The figure represents a £6million loss on the striker who joined Leeds for £13million from Inter Milan in December 2000.

A disappointed Venables said: "Robbie is talking to Spurs regarding a deal for £7million and it looks likely he is going to go through.

"He did ask to go. He stated that last week, even though I thought he was settled. Obviously he was not.

And no mention of Anderton going the other way.

He is 22, one of the few Spurs players to have had experience in Europe (summer hol's excluded) and should fit in nicely.

With the Morientes deal still at least not totally dead, could be a a tasty strike force at WHL.

With Rebrov, Iversen and now Keane fighting for the two up front, it gives Teddy the chance to drop back a bit and run the game from a link position.

    Interesting times at the Lane.

Spurs are welcome to him, he's no more than a 10 goal a year man, had loads of promise as a youngster but will turn out to be about the same quality as Darren Huckerby.

think robbie keane will be a great buy for them. leeds have too much upfront for him to get a game there anyway, once he gets a good run in the spurs team you will see the best of him.

With the return to fitness of Bridges and the fact we have kewell, Smith, Viduka and Fowler it was inevitable he would leave.

'Huckerby is like an out of control speedboat without a driver even he doesn't look like he knows what he is going do next' - Andy Townsend.

This quote just about sums up Huckerby except it is always obvious what he will do next, miss an absolute sitter. Keane on the other hand can finish and I reckon he has more chance of fulfilling his potential in a team where he is considered the main man. Could be a good buy for spurs
