talking of skill and tricks, did any of you guys see a soccer skills 'competition' with ringmaster Fergie? It had Beckham, Veron (pre-Man U) and others and I think it was called the Pepsi Challenge or something - was on Channel4 or 5...

anyway I missed it and was wondering if it was any good?

I saw it, and it was not bad. Apart from the fact a Vietnamese army footballer and an Egyption won 1st and 2nd place. Kind of devalued it a bit. There was a section where the players had to do ball skills and Dwight Yorke and Roberto Carlos were amazing.

well, there have been so many good players but why is everyone picking strikers, surely people like gordon banks or david seman have proved themselves to be superb international players for many years, same with defenders japp stamm, norman hunter or "chopper" harris were all superb defenders, there used to be an excellent skillfull winger called ryan gigs who was a pleasure to watch (till he became an overpaid primadonna), but going with everyone elses choice of naming strikers...

    1) pelé (truly in a league of his own)
    2) maradonna (pre too much coke days)
    3) eric cantona (a louse off the pitch, but brilliant on it)
    4) johan cruyff
    5) frantz bekenbauer
    6) that olé chap at scum utd, hes magic to watch, just a pity hes only used as a sub
    7) the whole korean wc 2002 team, not for their skill, but for the belief in themselves when everyone else thought they were whipping boys.
