Range Rover ABS Brake pump Problem

Anyone have any experience of Range Rovers?

I have a 1990 G-Reg 3947cc V8, with a very noisy abs compressor pump. It's electrically operated and make a "bearing" type noise- looking in the Haynes manual it looks like the pump is a sort of piston arrangement to beef up the abs (and general brake) pressure.

    my question is this:
I can buy a recon unit for £135 but rather than depressurising the hydraulic for the brakes and bleeding etc etc, is it possible to break apart the electrical/hydraulic sections? - Looking at the unit there are just 3 allen keys holding the unit together - but I dont want hydro fluid bursting everywhere when I split it.

    Thanks in advance

I'd put that question to the people who offered the recon unit and hope they tell you the truth instead of bullshitting you so you buy there's. Unless someone has done this before, which isn't likely, I'd say ABS is best left to the experts in that field, but, if the pump is goosed, what's to lose ?

they're not likely to bull on this as i'm actually buying a complete unit from them, so it's no skin off their nose what I do with it. I was just thinking of saving some time and effort.
With all that said I have spoken to a couple of other LR/RR mechanics and they both reckon it's a complete sealed unit so it looks like i'm gonna have to do the whole job.
