    hello,
this morning i tryied to unlock a duron 950 with the pensil method , i made sure the L1 bridges where not connected with each other ,put the cpu back ,the cooler on top and then turned the power on ,it booted and when i entered bios the pc froze and turned itself off. I'm sure i fried the cpu but is there a chance i could have fried anything else (memory , mobo , etc ) ?

Motherboard is usual on this sort of thing. It's really a plug it in and find out. Memory tends not to be affected, but I have seen them go.

Are there any signs of burn marks on the CPU? if not have a good sniff to see if there is any traces of electrical burning?

I never knew u could fry ur PC by unlocking ur CPU incorrectly. I read somewhere (before i started unlocking XP's) its a matter of unlock have a good if it doesnt boot, clean it up and try and unlock it again. Thats what i did when i unlocked my first XP Chip, must of had a load of goes but got there in the end.

Rub out the pencil marks and see if it posts.

lol was it a 80mm one? i hate it when u try and unscrew the 80mm heatsinks and the screws at the bottom come undone so u have to take the whole thing to bits just to screw them 4 damn legs back on.
