    Default auto read cds

    i have got win 2K pro how do i make it that the CD drive auto reads the cds as it is not doing it at the moment, i have to refresh all the time

    have a look at what type of files you can autoplay by going to tools/folder options/file types/<type of file you want to auto play>opens with/advanced then edit the options to autoplay the file type you want (like .avi .mpg)

    Start regedit (run 'regedit') then... go to....

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\CDRom

    change the value on Autorun (which should be 1) to 0

    Sorted...

    its still on 0 but the DVD and CD-r still dont run on autorun ???? ill post a pic to show

    right click my computer, properties, hardware tab, then device manager, open the cdrom drivers + sign. Then right click each drive, and properties again i think. then auto insert notification tick it.

    on drive is a

    CDR

    the other is a

    DVD

    if that helps
